WOYWW #191

Hi everyone, I hope you are ok.

Well here we are again, not only is it Wednesday again but someone appears to have stolen January (I really must fine a new opener for a regular post, I seem to use this one a lot). It's What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday  #191 and my desk this time is filled with wedding stationery (the pile of wallets on the left of my craft mat).

I forgot to say, when I wrote my post yesterday, that I'm in print again :) one of my cards was published in this month's Papercraft Essentials magazine :) and it was made using Funky Hand papers

Materials used are
Funky Hand Papers - Oh Come All Ye Crafters - Stylish Tree #3
Oh Come All Ye Crafters - Stylish Tree #4

Thanks very much for popping by. :)

Funky Friday

I feel so lucky this week as I have had so much beautiful goodies to play with that it is sometimes difficult choosing what to use first......it's so difficult being on manufacture's design teams. Only joking, I feel truly honoured to be able to work with some fantastic team mates to bring you a little bit of inspiration for when you buy the products yourself.

This weekend will see the release of some fantastic products from Funky Hand. Anice has made a really beautiful collection of papers and alphabets in shades of pink and grey and it is called "Just For Jen". It is our little reminder that Breast Cancer affects so many of us at some time in our life and it only takes seconds to check our breasts on a regular basis. You are never too young and you are never too old, just be safe and if caught early it can be completely curable.

So onto my first card made just using the papers alone, oh and a piece of ribbon and a flat backed pearl, how easy is that.

I've used four of the papers on this card, the band and the flower are from scraps from other cards. The flower is made using a Tim Holtz die but it can easily be made without. Cut a strip of paper about 2cm wide and 30 cm in length and pleat it at approximately 1/2cm intervals. Tape the ends together and squash it down onto a smaller circle of paper covered in glue. Decorate as required and hey presto....a flower made to match any of your projects :)

I've used the same papers to make the following cards (and still have plenty left to make more cards) but have used a couple of new digi stamps which are also due for release shortly.

Both coloured in an assortment of pink and grey Promarkers to match the papers.

My lovely team mate Kathy posted some of her DT makes using the same kit, on the Get Funky And Craft blog yesterday and as always, they are amazing!

Well, I'm now off to try to use up the rest of my papers, thanks for dropping by. xx

Afternoon everyone, I realise that I'm very late with these next two posts but I don't know where last week went. Anyway, I am here to show you my DT work (and when I've finished this post I will schedule next weeks post as my cards are already made!)

WOYWW

Another week has passed in the blink of an eye so no one can have listened when I asked for 2013 to pass a little slower than 2012!! :) However, I have now revised my working week and my new timetable will begin on Sunday (even though I don't work Sunday) which is the start of my week.

Anyway, you are here to look at my messy desk (again!) and boy, you won't be dissappointed lol. See what I mean

The space on the far right of my desk is in the process of being cleared, believe it or not, in order to house my Ebosser as there is nowhere else for it to go where I have access to it all the time. I think this is a lot to do with why I haven't got to grips with my Craft Robo as I have to put it away all the time. :(
There you are, I told you it was messy.

If you think I should be embarrassed by the state of my desk and want to know why I'm not and am blatantly showing it for all the world to see then you will need to know that it is the fault of Julia who runs the Stamping Ground blog as she actively encourages it. Pop over to Julia's blog and you will also be able to go on a world tour looking at messy desks as well as some not so messy and even some pristine desks, but I bet there won't be many of those.

Happy travelling and I hope you come back and visit me some time :)
Bye for now

Kanban Thursday

Gosh it's blooming cold here in Scruff's Corner, thank heavens for my big slipper :)) I could do with one that comes right up to my neck. Actually I have one of those Shiatzu massage chairs and that has a heater in it so if I get that too, I should be plenty warm enough lol

I know I said that I was going to change my Kanban day to Monday but I had forgotten that we are all posting on specific days at Kanban now so I decided to leave it at Thursday. So anyway, on to my DT samples for this week

Kathy's Waffle....

...Sketch File has a fabulous sketch on the blog at the moment which I think could be termed "simple but effective" and I love it. I sat down to make my first DT card and made 4 :)

Here is the sketch and two of my cards

I've used white pearlescent card backed onto silver (which looks black in the photo), Doodlebug Page Frill and the image and sentiment from The Digi Stamp Boutique coloured with Promarkers.
Ingredients used on this card are: image - Pink Petticoat which as been coloured with Promarkers and mounted onto a Nellie Stellen scalloped rectangle die cut, The butterfly was cut from vellum using a Memory Box die and and then mounted onto a gold ribbon frill. I shall enter this into the Daring Cardmakers Challenge for this week which is

This week your challenge is:
The 'Frill' Of It All
I would like you to incorporate some kind of frill on your card. It could be a frilly embellishment or background or maybe a stamp you have that would work. Anything that's fun and frilly!

Thanks for looking :) xx

What's on your Workdesk Wednesday?

#189 is now live on Julia's blog, The Stamping Ground, if you would like to take a look and find out more about this phenomenon that is taking over the world ;). I usually forget about it until it's too late in the day to post my picture but this week I thought I would give everyone a giggle and a tip on how to keep warm. I'll be good and show a photo of my desk first though, after all, this is what the post is for :)

I've spent the last few days making Mother's Day and Valentine's Day cards and am in the process of cleaning up to start on my new wedding orders and samples now my orders have arrived. Things always seem to take longer in the first couple of weeks of January as the suppliers catch up after the Christmas period. Talking of Christmas, has anyone started their 2013 Christmas cards yet?
And this is my little pet who lives under my desk. There is an air brick under my window but it's under the floor in my craft room and my poor legs freeze! As you will see we bought quite a thick mat to go on the floor on top of the carpet but it hasn't made any difference as it is the space under the desk which is cold. Hubby thought this might do the trick and bought it for me as a prezzie at Christmas. It is thermostatically controlled so heats my feet really well :) Now my knees are cold but my feet are lovely and warm so my next purchase will be a small fleece to go over my knees.  My youngest daughter says I look like old Granny Grunt with it, especially when I'm knitting lol,

Right, I'm now going back to work and will leave you to go on the world tour with WOYWW, happy travelling and thanks for stopping by here.

Thanks for stopping by xx

Men only!!

I thought it was about time they had a post to themselves as I've made a few 'male' cards today :) They are all very quick and easy and there are a couple that I would like to enter in the Less Is More challenge which this week is

"So it's everybody's favourite this week.... One Layer Cards... and we have chosen a fab theme for you....

Sports or Exercise"
Here are my cards

I've used a selection of stamps from a Papermania set entitled Nostalgia Pastimes by John Byars and stamped them in either Sepia or Memento Black. The sentiments were printed from the computer.
The other cards were made using toppers from  Lili of the Valley and a Cuttlebug lion.

I hope they are ok, I would really love to know what you think. xx

Allsorts challenge blog

Good morning from a very snowy Scruff's Corner this morning. I have a couple of cards made yesterday which fit the remit from the Allsorts Challenge blog which is to use Dies & Punches.

My cardmaking tends to go in waves. I have a period where I use stamps for a while, then I move onto dies or whatever then stamping etc Does anyone else craft like this or do you mix your different techniques together?

Thanks for stopping by :)

Happy Mother's Day

It's half past midnight and I can see the snow falling from my window at Scruff's Corner. I don't think it will settle on the ground but there is a layer on the shed roof, the patio table and the bins.

I know we have a few weeks left before Mother's Day but if you make cards you will know how important it is to have stock to fill your outlets well before the due date. I usually have my Valentine's Day cards and Mother's Day/Mothering Sunday cards made before Christmas but this year, sorry, last year I was busy and didn't get round to making them. Here are a few of them for now :) The cards are all made with stamps from a (new to me) internet shop called Clearly Besotted. Such a fab name for a shop and very apt.......and yes I am clearly besotted! It's funny but I only came across this store last month and I have had Stephanie (the company owner on my Blogging Buddies list for years. I was looking for something and came across a card on Pinterest which had been made with some of the stamps and so I went searching. I loved Stephanie's work when she used to take part in challenges so to own some of her work is just brilliant but I can see it skinting me!! lol

From the top, the items I used were
Happy Everything stamp set by Clearly Besotted Stamps
Butterfly die by Clearly Besotted
White pearlescent card stock
6 x 6" card blank
Promarkers
I stamped the image twice and decoupaged the butterflies and flowers

Happy Everything stamp set by Clearly Besotted Stamps
White pearlescent card
White ribbon
Clear diamantes
Punched butterfly
6 x 6" scalloped card blank

Stepping Out stamp set by Clearly Besotted Stamps
White pearlescent card
White ribbon
Clear diamantes
6 x 6" card blank

I absolutely adore this stamp set. I first made myself a mask of the hand bag and one of the shoes so that I could stamp the images over each other to make it look as though they were all in front of each other. I stamped the bag first then using the handbag mask I stamped the shoe at the front and finally used the shoe mask and stamped the shoe at the back. It's a very simple method of stamping and it's good if you don't want to sit and cut all of your images out to layer them up.

I'm feeling very restrained this week having not bought any more of the stamps (sorry Stephanie) but I might have to pay a visit for some more next week and yes, you've guessed it......I'm Clearly Besotted!! lol

Thanks for visiting my blog :)
Enjoy your day.

Happy New Year

I took last week off to try to sort my craft room etc before I started back at work this week but it didn't quite work out that way. My room is still a tip and as well as my DT work I took in two more wedding orders :)

Well here we are in another new year and we have a fabulous new design kit from Kanban. I know I keep harping on about it and that their 'mantra' is "Quality as standard" but the Kanban goodies and kits etc is just absolutely amazing, they really are beautiful as well as fantastic quality. The new online Kanban shop, Crafted By You is now live and new products are being uploaded almost daily so now if yoiu don't have a local bricks and mortar craft shop near you you can shop your little socks off online :)

I think I mentioned before that I was changing my Kanban Thursday to Kanban Monday but I'm keeping Funky Hand to Friday and Kathy's Waffle will be on Wednesdays (I like the sound of Waffle Wednesdays :)) I don't know yet what I'm going to do with the other two week days but I'm sure I'll find something.
