Well it's a new month (well it was) and we have a new sketch over at Kathy's Waffle Sketch File and you will be pleased to know that it is a lot easier than the sketch for August was, thanks Kathy lol

A taste of things to come!

The Funky Hand DT each got a copy of the new cd, by Anice, which will be on sale on the Funky Hand web site on Saturday, and it is just fab. When I received my Craft The Year Away cd I didn't think it could be improved on but I was wrong, this one is just to die for!!

If you have any spare cash and feel the need to spoil yourself then look no further than these four cds. There is Dreams Come True, Colour Me Happy, Craft The Year Away and the new one Happy Happy Birthday. There are over 200 papers on the Birthday cd alone then you get digi stamps, templates, wordbooks and loads more!

I decided that I would use the cd to make my daughter's birthday cards as we are having a BBQ for her next week and this is what I came up with. The hardest part was cutting the stars out :)

Kathy's Sketch File

I'm back, finally after a fabulous 2 week holiday in Zakynthos (where the lowest temperature was 26 degrees and that was at 11 o'clock at night!!) and an absolute mountain of work, with my August DT card for Kathy's Waffle Sketch File using another great sketch.

All of the components on my card are from Craftwork Cards apart from the lace and the butterfly.

The wedding..

this afternoon was just fab, hard work but very enjoyable. I had been invited to the evening 'do' but hubby is working and I'm shattered after another 90 hour week so I am sat watching Casualty! I did stay for the ceremony though and it was lovely and I felt so priviledged that I was allowed to share the day. Although I have 'done' plenty of gay weddings the orders have come through the web site and have been all over the country so this was the first time I have had the chance to be a part of a civil partnership ceremony. I love the term 'Life partner', it sounds so much more romantic than husband and wife :)

 This is the card I made them using images from Pink Petticoat and the colour scheme of the day.

My clients were really pleased with the end result and said I had done an 'amazing job'. The result....3 happy bunnies!!

And this is what I was doing at 8 o'clock this morning!!

It started life the same as this one but black

I took it off the comb and glued it onto a silver tiara band then added pink and more black feathers and added a centre piece using pink feathers and diamantes.

The big day.......

has finally arrived! What started out as a wedding stationery order has culminated (tomorrow) with the venue decoration and I'm so looking forward to it. The couple, and Kate! have been an absolute joy to work with. The colour scheme is burgundy with ivory and silver accent colour and it all looks lovely together.

I plan on taking lots of photos tomorrow so will be back then. I'm now going to go and iron the table runners ready to take with me.

WOYWW

 Don't know what I'm talking about then take a look at Julia's Stamping Ground blog and it explains all. Then you can take a trip around the world and catch up with a lot of lovely craftiness!

Thought I would show a different part of my desk today......my scrap mountain!!

 Now if this were my only one it wouldn't be so bad but I have a drawer like it at home plus a couple of 12" x 12" boxes full too. I have convinced myself that I don't cut into new sheets but this sort of tells me different lol

I thought I would show this pic too as technically this could be my work desk too. It's the mock up table for the wedding I'm doing the venue set up for on Saturday.....

so what do you think? Will I get away with this as a work table?

Mum's cards

It was my mum's birthday last Thurday and the WOYWW post below saw her cards on my desk, almost finished. I was asked to show them in full so here they are!

 All of the components on the above card, apart from the pink paper roses, are from Craftwork Cards. The roses have been in my stash for ages as I used to buy them in bulk. The image was coloured with Promarkers

This card is from the Treasured Moments - Diamond Window Collection by Hunky Dory from Cardcraft Plus They really are pretty cards. I've used the 'Mother' verse and added flowers, gems and ribbon as well as the sentiment but the picture doesn't show them very well.

Whats On Your Workdesk Wednesday

Tis here again (although I missed it last week, I left my camera at work with my photos on!!) anyway, it's over to the Julia's Stamping Ground blog to have nosey at everyone's workdesks!

Here's mine

 Tomorrow is my mum's birthday and the cards on my desk are the ones I made her this morning, next to the cards are some commissioned birthday invitations, the blue basket and the lilac basket on my drawer contain the last stages of two wedding orders I'm doing. On top of the bookcase behind the drawer is a box full of favours and there is a basket on this side of the desk with more wedding orders in. oh and there is a box on the floor next to my desk with an invitation order in it. Guess who is working late tomorrow and staying over at the shop! :)

My turn to Get Funky!

Today sees my turn to post my card on the Get Funky! challenge and again I've made one using my favourite large numbers :)

When I worked as a primary school TA I used to have groups for extra literacy and numeracy lessons so bought myself a set of letters in both upper and lower case and a set of numbers, not thinking they would get so much use after I left school five years ago lol. I have been asked many times where I got them from but I can't remember however, I do have a solution and will add my card then a little tutorial for making your own templates.

The challenge is set by Ruth and the subject is "Boys, Boys, Boys"

I made another card today from the same sheet but will show that one later.

Now onto my little tutorial (please be patient, I've never done one of these before ;))

Open a Word document, choose a font and a number and increase the font size to 72 so you can see what you are doing


Highlight the number and right click to open a new box and click on FONT, this will bring up the following screen

In the middle section of the screen under EFFECTs tick the box which says OUTLINE and make the font size 450. Tick OK and your number should look like this


You can either now print the number 2 or 3 times and stick them together so you have a template or save them into a folder ready to print onto the reverse side of your paper. Should you decide to do the latter, make sure you remember to tick the 'MIRROR IMAGE' box in your print settings/properties
 
I hope this helps someone a little bit. Of course you can make yourself as many templates as you like in as many different fonts and sizes as you like......just remember to save them when you are done (unlike me who forgets :))
