What's on Your Work Desk Wednesday #154

It's ages since I took part in WOYWW so I thought I would give it a go today. This is the official day of the week when we get to snoop at craft spaces around the world! If you want to know more about it take a peep at the blog of the 'Chief Snoop', Julia's Stamping Ground and you will see more of what we're up to.

I've a couple of different photos of my desk today, the first is as it was when I got up this morning, not good to open the door at 7.15 and have that lot facing you :)

The tiaras are all nicely wrapped in tissue and boxed and the details all recorded ready for hubs to upload them onto the web site. So the next step looks like this
One of my clients bought a necklace and bracelet set from me but she doesn't want the bracelet so I'm making her a pair of earrings from it :) Oh and just look at that sunshine, it's fab but a bit chilly at the mo.

I'm off now to have a nosey at some of the crafty blogs. Have a lovely day.

Thanks for looking.

Funky Fifteenth

The Get Funky challenge is live for the month of May and Ruth is the lovely hostess who has set the challenge. Her brief is Polkadots and Flowers and as long as the two main requirements AND a Funky Hand item you can enter our challenge!

The freebie paper for this month can be found on the Funky Hand web site here

Now I don't mean to bang on about this but it peeves me slightly that over 100 people a month are grabbing the free paper, which Anice produces out of the goodness of her heart so people who don't have any FH products can join in, and just a handful are using it for the purpose of entering the Get Funky challenge Please, if you don't want to enter the challenge then that's fine, we don't mind but if you do then please make sure that you use a Funky Hand product.

Take a look at the web site to see the fab work of the Design Team over the next month and if you like what you see then please leave us a comment.

Take care and thanks for reading.

Funky Friday

It's just a very quick Funky Hand card today as I'm up to my eyes with jewellery and samples for a change, it's ages since I've made any jewellery. I also have another fascinator on my desk to add feathers to and the rest of my tiaras to photograph, edit and price so hubby can get them uploaded onto my web site.

The numbers are hand cut from off cuts of blue spotty card from the Birthday Collection from the Happy Happy Birthday cd by Funky Hand. These cds are absolutely fantastic and each one contains hundreds and hundreds of papers and elements, including digi stamps and are perfect for card making and scrapbooking. The sentiment is typed and the twine is from the Ribbon Girl it was the first time I had used this company and the service and the quality of the products is fabulous.

I need to go and make a couple of DT cards now before I carry on with the tiaras.
Thanks for looking :)

Kanban Thursday...

...is nearly over and I've forgotten to schedule my post, what a muppet!!

I really enjoyed making the cards for this week apart from when it came to taking the photos (which I will explain at the end)

 Materials used
PCT2355 Meadow Frames - sentiment tag on card

PCt1955 Beautiful Birds - toppers
CRD1504 Bird cages on Driftwood
GEM 3mm Bling
Gold Mirri card
Pink Pearlscent card

This is the card I had the photo problems with. It didn't matter which angle I took the photo, from because of the acetate because of the acetate it just made the image look blurred.

Anyway, onto the Materials used
Pale lilac/pink card
CRD1796 Floral stripe - Turquoise
PCT2299 Farfalla & Vespa frames and sentiment
ACE2307 Farfalla & Vespa 3D acetate
PRL 5mm Blue Pearls

Altered fascinator!

I had a request from a client to add some feathers to a fascinator she wanted from me. The fascinator started life like this one (I forgot to add photos of the cream one before I added feathers but it was the same as this!)

and after a little fiddling and gluing it ended up like this

I've added an assortment of feathers in cream and various shades of brown and a few crystals which have been wound onto gold wire.

I have one very happy customer, it was well liked :)

Kathy's Waffle Sketch File

It's challenge time again on Kathy's Waffle Sketch File and as always it's a goodun! I don't know where she gets them from LOL

You can use the sketch in any way you like as long as we can still see the sketch and it can be used in scrapbooking, tag making or any other media you would like.

Please add your name to the Inlinks thingy on the blog page and we look forward to seeing your work.

PS If you think this sketch is a corker, wait till you see next month's :))

Exploding box

After a weekend of non stop rain it has finally stopped!! I must say though, it has been perfect weather for crafting :)

Although I photographed all the layers and the outside of my box, I forgot to take photos of the inside once it had all been stuck together. You'll just have to use your imagination and think what it might look like lol

The blank sections are left for the recipient to add their baby photos to make a lovely keepsake. I've used an assortment of verses from the web, die cuts and buttons plus the ribbons and hand knitted (by me) booties on the lid.

The girl who bought it was over the moon with it as she had never seen one before!

Thanks for looking.

Design Team call

Why not pop over to Anice's blog and see if you have what it takes to join our fab team?

Kanban samples

From next week I think I'm going to allocate a day of the week for my DT work and try to upload my samples on the same day each week. I might just have a Kanban Thursday which will ensure that my samples will have been uploaded to the Kanban Facebook page. This will also enable me to schedule posts if I'm busy.

There once was an ugly duckling

The brief for this order was to make a suggestion box for one of my best customers who has just opened a daycare nursery, Little Ducklings

I had real fun with this project, thanks Kerry :)

It started life as a keepsake box,
and what a job I had trying to cut a hole in the lid! I emulsioned the bottom of the box with Lemon Drop, a Dulux tester pot and used 12 x 12 yellow card, gingham ribbon, blue ric rac and assorted yellow ducks with googlie eyes.

I'm just waiting for the logo so I can add the text to the box and it's all done.

Thanks for looking.

Funky 26th

Well I can't really call it the Funky 15th when it's the 26th now can I lol?

So over to my team mate Debs to announce her challenge

Hello! Debs here with news of this month's
Funky 15th Challenge
I have chosen a nice and simple challenge

LET'S GET SENTIMENTAL

and would like to see your projects using at least 1 Funky Hand product
where the focus is on the sentiment - simples!!!
So here are my cards, the first using the freebie with flowers made from paper scraps!
And the second card is made using the 'Workspace' section of the Happy Happy Birthday cd, part of the Papercraft Factory range which is available from the web site.
I added my birthday verse before I printed the image from the cd, coloured the flowers with Promarkers and added gems to some of them.

Please note. If you don't use any Funky Hand elements on your card then you WON'T be entered into the draw for the monthly download. the challenge is open until 14th May.

Good luck and happy crafting!

Normal service resumes

I haven't taken part in any challenges for what seems like ages so I thought I would pop one in every so often to break up the monotony of sorting out my craft room...oh I wish I either had a magic wand or a tidying up fairy!!

So my first challenge was one which I haven't done for a long time and that is the Sketch and Stash challenge, then I had a quick browse and realised that I could add it to the Passion For Promarkers challenge which was 'pink, pearls and lace' and the Papertake Weekly challenge who wanted to see stitching on our cards. Now I know I'm a week behind with this card but I actually made it on Saturday and forgot to post it lol Well, it's a start. Think of me as a newbie blogger.....ok then, I just haven't got the foggiest idea what day it is :)

I needed a card for a lovely friend of mine and her hubby who were renewing the wedding vows on Saturday and as Keith had arranged it all without Carol knowing, this stamp brought images of him re-proposing (is that the right word?) to her!

The stamp and sentiment are by Lili of the Valley which were stamped with black Memento and coloured with Promarkers, the paper and card were from my snippet box (I haven't been to play at Di's for a while, I wonder if she's coming out!) and the flowers, ribbon and pearls are all from my work boxes.
This card wasn't intended for any challenges so I'm not late with this one lol. One of my brides asked me to make her a card for the wedding coordinator at their venue. All the elements including the blank card are from Craftwork cards.

I hope you like :)

Kanban

Guess what?....in my (online) absence I was invited to join the design team for Kanban Crafts and it took me completely by surprise as I had forgotten all about the call!

As soon as I've written this post I will be updating my side bar with the details of all the girls on the design team so you can keep and eye on what we're up to :)

I had a wonderful box of goodies arrive with a poor courier, it was so heavy ;) I'm really enjoying working my way through the box. the quality of the card, toppers, gems etc is absolutely superb and the plain card stock must be about 350 gsm, it's really thick and very good quality.

So here are my first couple of cards made from my goody box

All materials including backing papers are from Kanban who have stockists all over the UK and I've used a QK Revolution die for the flourishes.

Thanks for looking.

Kathy's Waffle Sketch File...

has another amazing sketch for you this month

which can be seen, along with the projects made by my super team mates on the Sketch File blog
We would love it if you could join in with us, there is still time for this month, oh and just wait till you see next month's sketch...boy is it a good one :)

Till next time, thanks for looking. x

So little time!!

Where on earth is the time going? I can't believe it is two weeks since I last blogged.....crikey, it will soon be C*******s!!!

So where to start. I think we will start with the Get Funky! challenge for the month.  The challenge this month was set by Debs and she says "I have chosen a nice and simple challenge

LET'S GET SENTIMENTAL

and would like to see your projects using at least 1 Funky Hand product

where the focus is on the sentiment - simples!!!

Please take a look at the fab projects which have been created by the super talented ladies on the Funky Hand design team to hopefully give you some inspiration if you need it, or just to admire if you don't. I'm not sure if you are aware but every month Anice creates a free download sheet of patterned paper to enable who don't own any downloads, cds or stamps by Funky Hand to take part in our challenge too. There are over 100 people every month who are just downloading the free background paper and ignoring the challenge. We are more than happy to share these lovely creations with you but please show some respect to Anice and use them to take part in our little challenge. We even have a monthly prize of a download so who knows, you might just be the lucky one :)

I will be back with my challenge card later this week when it's my turn to post on the challenge blog but before I go, make sure you keep and eye on Anice's blog as we will be having a DT call.

Wedding cards

Hubby had run out of cards again for his discos so I sat this morning and made 8. I still have a couple of birthday cards to make for a couple of parties in the next few weeks but we need to find out what sex the 'party person' is first.

I've 'misplaced' two photos so will add them when I find them. These cards were quick and easy to do the they all incorporate left overs from other projects! Apart from the 'recipe' (which I can't remember where I got it from), all of the images are from Sally-Ann at The Digistamp Boutique and the papers are a mix of Basic grey and Pink Petticoat.

Funky challenge

Kathy is our 'hostess with the mostest' this month and she has chosen Spring Celebrations as the theme....I don't know about blooming spring, I think my card should have snowflakes on it today :) I'm just amazed at how diverse our weather is and am finding it unbelievable that this time last week I was working outside on the patio  and tanning nicely. Now if I sat on the patio I would probably go rusty and freeze! Oh well back to the job in hand.

I have used oddments of paper from the Spring Has Sprung download, aren't they beautiful?! I cut the flowers from odd bits of paper left over from other projects and the butterflies were cut from another sheet from the download. I found the little Easter egg brad in one of my pots and I haven't got a clue where it came from.

We would love it if you could join in with our challenge but you must use a Funky Hand product. We say this every month but there are still people who ignore our one little rule. If you don't own anything from Funky Hand it isn't a problem as Anice has added a freebie download to the web site which can be downloaded from here .

Kathy's Waffle Sketch File

Kathy has uploaded another fantastic sketch for the challenge this month and as usual it filled me with dread lol. However, once I got my butt into gear and my thinking cap on it wasn't so bad.

I bought this stamp a few weeks ago from Lili of the Valley and it's the first time it's gone near an ink pad. The papers are a mix from my scrap box, the image was coloured with Promarkers and the sentiment is from Craftwork Cards.
As you will notice if you've been for a peep at the sketch I have turned it on it's side (I seem to do that a lot lately -  sorry Kathy, I do like them the right way too :))

Please try to take part in our little challenge, the sketches are brill. Oh and all the past sketches are still available too.
