Witty titles!

Do you ever wish you could not only write fantastic content in a blog post and then come up with a witty title? Yep, me too. But where do we start? Do we begin with a witty title and hope that

  1. it is going to be read by hundreds of thousands, ok, maybe thousands, hundreds, well a few anyway and
  2. is picked up by major search engines
or

Do we write the content first and then sit on it for days trying to come up with a witty title?

I would love to find out what everyone thinks.

So now as I am unable to come up with either, I shall add a couple of cards made for my brother's birthday earlier this month. The first card was made using the Kathy's Waffle Sketch File sketch (what a mouthful that was lol)
The papers on this card were left overs from old Funky Hand projects, the ribbon was from my stock and the boat is a wonderful stamp set from the very talented Stephanie Wincott at Clearly Besotted stamps. There is still time to use the sketch over on KWSF and we would love to see what you've done with it.
This card features a pre-coloured teddy topper from Lili of the Valley and he is just so cute. The sentiment is a Kanban one and the button and twine are from my stock box.

Thanks for dropping by and I'll see you again soon :)

Wedding Wednesday

I'm using the post today to add the latest batch of wedding cards I made for hubby for work, and there are a few :) As always, they are all made with left overs, I think I might be on that mission for a while as my folder doesn't seem to be getting any lighter!

Silver mirri card from Joanna Sheen, paper and image by Funky Hand
The image on this card is a pre-coloured one from Lili Of The Valley and everything else is from my left over stash.
Papers from Funky Hand, image from The Digistamp Boutique and the lace is from Sarah Wright on Facebook
A Lili OF The Valley image as on a previous card and my mum got me the backing card ages ado from a little craft shop who has since closed down!
The image this time is from a set called Happily Ever After by Clearly Besotted, which is owned by the lovely Stephanie Wincott.
This one is made with Funky Hand paper and a die cut bell

A stamped image

Before we go onto the second challenge from the newly formed Crafting Muskateers Challenge team I would like to thank everyone one of you who took part in the first challenge....all 235 of you! The DT are so pleased with how it went and there were some fantastic entries. It was Sharon's turn to choose the winner using Random.org and that lucky person is Kellylou, congratulations!

So now onto Challenge #2 which is to use a stamped image. I chose to use a gorgeous image (Super Striker - stamped with black Memento and coloured with Promarkers) from Lili Of The Valley as I was making a card for my nephew who's birthday it is tomorrow.

The backing paper is a freebie from Papercraft Essentials I think and the sentiment was found in a box ready printed!

We would love you to join in with us again this week and who knows, you may just be the winner of a fantastic prize
which has been donated by (click on the picture below to take you to Chloe's web site)

Good luck. Take care and enjoy your day. x

Here's one I made earlier!!

Another scheduled post already, that's twice in one week. I have to take my youngest daughter up to Durham tomorrow to get a new passport. She used hers for ID in town and it has either been stolen or she has lost it. Apparently now the police have to send them straight back to Liverpool if any are handed in and if any of the regional passport offices get any handed in they are destroyed. They then sting you for £103 to fast track a new passport. She needs it urgently as she and a friend are going to a concert in Dublin in four weeks. I wouldn't mind but she has only had her (lost) passport for about 18 months :( Still, I suppose it gets me out of the house for a couple of hours and Durham is lovely. I haven't been for about 20 years so I suppose it will have changed a bit lol. My parents used to have a newsagents and tearoom in the town centre.

So more cards for you!

I've had this Penny Black stamp for a long time and still use it quite a bit. I love the sentiment underneath it too.

"A friend is like a good bra: hard to find, comfortable, supportive, always lifts you up, makes you look better, never lets you down or leaves you hanging, and always close to your heart."

Author: Unknown
One of my favourite Lili Of The Valley images. Ribbon from Ribbon Oasis and finished with some small crystals.
I didn't realise until I opened this that it was a Papermania card making kit, I thought it was just a decoupage kit. I will use all the elements separately though and get a few cards from the pack instead of just the one.
Another very quick and easy card to make. I bought this bassinet die cut years ago but haven't a clue where from. I think it was a pack of 10 and this might be the last one but I may come across others in my quest for organisation!! I put it all together onto a piece of white hammered card then mounted it onto a piece of the beautiful Kanban paper from the Sugar Buttons paper pad from Crafted By You. The ribbon, ric rac, teddy etc were all from my stock. I made this card for one of 'my couples' whose wedding stationery I made about two and a half years ago. Baby Alex is about 10 days old now....congratulations, Jo and Phil xx

That's it for now, I shall be back soon (unless I get kidnapped in Durham lol)

Quick cards Sunday!

Good morning Campers!! How are we all this morning? It's miserable grey and windy here at Scruff's Corner and I have ironing to do.......now how is that for a bad day already!?!

I have more cards in my blog folder so here goes

This card was made for one of hubby's nephews whose birthday is on Christmas Day! The Man U badge was pinched from somewhere on t'internet and the footballer is from a stamp set by Papermania called Nostalgia Pastimes, he was coloured with Promarkers.
This is a card made in a hurry with a pre coloured image from Lili Of The Valley, a piece of b/g card and ribbon from Kanban and a typewritten sentiment
I don't know where the cupcake is from on this card, I've been all through my documents today and can't find any trace of it. I coloured the heart with a poppy Promarker and then gave it a good squirt of Glossy Accents. The doily and ribbons are from my craft box.
I love this image. It's one I bought from Funky Kits ages ago and have loads of uses out of her. A quick colour with Promarkers, a piece of white satin ribbon and that's it finished.

I hope you've liked my quick run down of quick cards.
Thanks for looking.

A card a day

Kathy's new group on Facebook :) Do you feel like making a card every day and better still, blogging it, then come over and join us. It's early days yet but it looks as though it could be good fun :)

I've ,made a few cards between yesterday and today so I will add those. It's my son's birthday today, he's 24, Happy birthday Dan. We had some lovely news this morning, DH's cousin's girlfriend gave birth to a baby boy this morning weighing 8lb something :) They have another son who is about 15 months old....what you might call a hand full. Julie has two older children so I'm sure they will help with the little ones.

I will now add the cards I made this morning and tomorrow I will blog the cards I made yesterday (are you still with me? :)) and it's my turn to blog the Get Funky challenge and add my projects. I might do a little tutorial to go with it.

I still need to put a sentiment onto the second card. Images are by Pink Petticoat and Lili of the Valley.

Ok, I will be back in the morning. Take care and tfl xx

Just a quickie.....

as I am still in wedding fayre mode and getting on really well instead of having to rush everything on the Saturday like I usually do. I've not got much more to do now. One of my jobs though will involve sitting on the floor and surrounding myself with favours. I'm dressing the tables at the wedding fayre and just need to make sure that I have enough favours to go on each table along with place cards, table numbers/names and or menus.

It was my mum and dad's 55th wedding anniversary and this is the card I made them...

These little toppers from Lili OF The Valley are really good for when you are in a rush although I keep forgetting I have them lol, Craftwork Cards sentiment and Memory Box heart die cut.

Must dash, I will be back tomorrow with photos from the wedding fayre.

Enjoy your weekend and thanks for dropping by :)

Kathy's Waffle Sketch File

Kathy has uploaded another fantastic sketch for the challenge this month and as usual it filled me with dread lol. However, once I got my butt into gear and my thinking cap on it wasn't so bad.

I bought this stamp a few weeks ago from Lili of the Valley and it's the first time it's gone near an ink pad. The papers are a mix from my scrap box, the image was coloured with Promarkers and the sentiment is from Craftwork Cards.
As you will notice if you've been for a peep at the sketch I have turned it on it's side (I seem to do that a lot lately -  sorry Kathy, I do like them the right way too :))

Please try to take part in our little challenge, the sketches are brill. Oh and all the past sketches are still available too.

My favourite......

LOTV stamp is the challenge over on the Lili's Little Fairies blog which is the second challenge on the Lili Of The Valley's new challenge blog. This is the first time I've taken part in a LOTV challenge and I'm not even sure how I came to find it but I did and as I had a wedding card to make so I thought I would enter.

I don't own many LOTV stamps but this has to be a favourite, it is just so cute.

I don't know where the pink and silver paper came from as it's from the snippet box again (sorry Di, you'll be sick of the sight of me this week :))
The frame and small pink flower are Nesties and the large heart is a new one from Memory Box. I can't say I am over impressed with it at the moment as I have to layer it with card 'shims' in order to get a decent cut so it doesn't fall to pieces when it's being removed from the die! The image has been coloured with Promarkers and the sentiment is from Craftwork Cards.

I shall be back in the morning for the Funky Hand blog hop, I hope you will join us :)

Stamp Something

This week's challenge is simple....stamp something with snow. It can be something made of snow, something that likes snow or something that reminds you of snow. Anything really that's more fun that shoveling snow!!

I've made two for this challenge

Papers are BG and the image is HouseMouse coloured with Prismas and the snow has been glittered.
Snowflake is from Craftwork Cards, paper is from Lilli of the Valley and I also used a piece of snow paper which I found in a drawer but haven't got a clue where it came from!

Baby's First Christmas

Good morning and what a blooming cold one it is too here in Scruff's Corner. I've just been out to put something in the bin and the lid is frozen solid, I can't get it open!! Never mind, I will be in the cosy warm all day as I've got loads of work to do :)) I hope you all had a good weekend. I had to work but I was lifted yesterday when I went over to the Secret Crafters Challenge blog for this week's sketch and found out that I had won the monthly draw for a £20 voucher :)) In a couple of days time I will be the proud owner of a Martha Stewart punch and a set of pastel Promarkers :)

Yesterday I made a Baby's First Christmas card and it took me almost all day by the time I had decided what to put in it, on it, round it etc. I'm pleased with the results, what do you think?
I love this stamp for baby cards, I think it's an Anita's one. I've just stamped him onto white card hammer card, glittered his paws, added Glossy Accents to his nose and given him a felt Santa hat :)
Pages two and three! Papers through out are from Lilli of the Valley, Debbi Moore and the other one was a freebie from somewhere but I forgot to name it when I saved it. If it is yours please let me know then I can credit you properly. I've also used Sizzix snowman and frame and a Sizzlit Santa along with bits of ribbon etc.
Pages four and five and out come my favourite snowman and penguin :) The frame is from Shaz at Funky Fairys lettering is cut using the Wingo Zingo dies. I've also used a couple of Sizzlit and Cuttlebug dies too.
I've used another poem found on the net on the back of my card. The poem is called 'The Melting Snowman' hence the full snowman and the pile of hat, scarf and nose! The little polar bear is a Lili of the Valley die cut.
The box. I'm pleased with the way this turned out! Rather than make a card this time I decided to use Sue's Secret Crafters Saturday challenge sketch!I think it worked rather well! The papers are again by the elusive designer and Lili of the Valley and the image is a Pink Petticoat download coloured with Prismas and Sansador. I added a bit of Doodlebug glitter, ribbon and a couple of snowflake brads.

I finally managed to photgraph the earrings I made on Saturday.

My first Celtic Knots which I made on a wire jig which I bought from my friend Andrea about three years ago (and never used!)

These earrings match the black and red mesh necklace I sold at my jewellery party.
That's it for now.........I hope you like :)
Thanks for looking. xx
