Rosie Dee's
Challenge # 78
By the time you read this we will be thinking of coming home from the lovely island of Zakynthos (Zante) where we have been for the last two weeks. Thank heavens for scheduling posts (and thanks Rosie for showing me how to do it)
It's my turn to host the second challenge for August and this time I decided that as it is my wonderful hubby's birthday next month we would have "One for the boys" but for the big boys in your life not the small ones as our men often get forgotten in our card making.
I coloured the image with Promarkers and mounted and layered it onto assorted papers from my scrap drawer, the sentiment was printed on the lap top, card Candy is from Craftwork Cards and the assorted ribbons are from my stash.
All I've got to do now is remember where it is nearer his birthday......this is the reason I usually make it the night before his birthday (yeah right!) :)
Thanks again for playing along with our brilliant challenges and don't forget to hop over and have a look at the lovely work by the DT.

I still have some commissions to do before I go away on Thursday plus some dt work which I will schedule for when I'm away just incase there isn't a broadband connection is darkest Cornwall LOL Here is the card I made for last week's challenge over at Rosie-Dee's The challenges this month are all based around holidays and the month started off with a sketch.

Debbi Moore
My DT kit this month was Debbi's kit of the month and I really enjoyed using it. The floral stamps are just gorgeous and stamp brilliantly. I had shades of pink embossing powders and pink and purple assorted ribbons and I could've gone on making forever!!
This card was made by stamping onto cream card using black Versafine ink and colouring with Marvy pens. I then tied the purple ribbon round two squares of glitter card and mounted them onto the card and overlaid the image with it's silver mirror card mat.
Another easy card, this time it's an accordian card. I stamped four squares of orange card using the corner daisy stamp with a Versamark pad and brushed the images over with Perfect Pearls-this gives the image a lovely shiny look and doesn't detract from the main image. I stamped and coloured the main image and mounted it onto gold card again and used a piece of bright pink ribbon, tied round the middle of the left hand side, to hold the sentiment.
My final card for now is an acetate card but made with acetate on the front rather than the whole card, which I usually do. Once I'd cut off the front panel of the card leaving a piece of approximately 3 cms, I stuck the acetate onto the outside using DS tape. Add the 'awning' piece across the top of the card and you can't see the tape! My piece of 'Someone Special' glitter card is from Debbi's web site too. It's a mixed pack and is absolutely beautiful. Don't forget that when you are using acetate to add something to the back of your embellishments or the adhesive will show. I always polish mine with a soft cloth when I've finished, just to get rid of any finger marks :)Saturday, October 25, 2008
Doubling up!
I've decided to double up on challenges this week as life is getting a little busy again at the mo (I'm writing this while watching Strictly - I've never thought of taking my lap top into the lounge before duh!) My friend went on holiday today and I am running her hair and nail salon while she's away! (That sounds so impressive but I just answer the phones and make jewellery :))

The holly backing paper is from one of Debbi Moore's new cds and it is just gorgeous and the greeting stamp is one of Debbi's too (from my new design kit which is full of the most adorable acrylic Christmas stamps!) :) The patterned paper is Season of Joy from Scrapworks and the little bird is by Imaginisce........I just stamped it three times and paper pieced it together.
Well as I mentioned above, here's where life gets busy again...........we are out for lunch tomorrow, Monday is DS's birthday and as well as not having made his cards yet we are going out for tea too, I'm at the shop from Tuesday till Saturday, I got my new DT kit from Debbi yesterday and I still have about 50 gazillion Christmas cards to make as well as a couple of personal planners (but not weddingy) and eldest DD's wedding invitations to make too:) It's a good job I work best like this LOL
On a weddingy note, we bought her dress today and it is just absolutely beautiful........it's ivory with a burgundy trim and I love it!
I hope you all enjoy what's left of the weekend.
Take care and TFL.
