Kathy's Waffle....

...Sketch File has a fabulous sketch on the blog at the moment which I think could be termed "simple but effective" and I love it. I sat down to make my first DT card and made 4 :)

Here is the sketch and two of my cards

I've used white pearlescent card backed onto silver (which looks black in the photo), Doodlebug Page Frill and the image and sentiment from The Digi Stamp Boutique coloured with Promarkers.
Ingredients used on this card are: image - Pink Petticoat which as been coloured with Promarkers and mounted onto a Nellie Stellen scalloped rectangle die cut, The butterfly was cut from vellum using a Memory Box die and and then mounted onto a gold ribbon frill. I shall enter this into the Daring Cardmakers Challenge for this week which is

This week your challenge is:
The 'Frill' Of It All
I would like you to incorporate some kind of frill on your card. It could be a frilly embellishment or background or maybe a stamp you have that would work. Anything that's fun and frilly!

Thanks for looking :) xx

Soggy Saturday......

also known as Sugar Button!!! These are just so cute Kathryn and perfect for little girls's cards. When I bought the kit I also bought the paper pad and rubber stamps. I'm so pleased I did though because I haven't even dared to dip into the kit properly, I keep trying to use it but I just put the lid down on the box. Will this feeling ever go away? lol

Both cards are made using the stamps and papers from Sugar Button as I said before (I keep wanting to call them Sugar Dumpling!! lol), the netted flower on the top card is made from ivory Spiders Web from Kanban and the ribbon on the bottom card is from Kanban too, everything else is from my stash. Oh and I added lots of Glamour Dust to the fairy on the bottom card, on her stars as well as her wings :).

I will be adding my card to a Card a Day Blogging and the following challenges, Allsorts Challenge which is Bring on the Bling, the Daring Cardmakers and their challenge is Twinkle Twinkle - to have at least one star on your card, Papertake Weekly who want to see Ribbons & Pearls, either of both - well I've got pearls on the top card and ribbon on the bottom one :).

Thank you for all of your wonderful comments, they are really appreciated.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend. x

Manic Monday

Good morning, I hope everyone is ok. It's not very warm in the Scruff's Corner part of the country but the sun is shining which is ok after the rain we had last night! I had to shut the patio doors as the noise was horrendous.....it was like sitting in  a caravan :)

So onto my card....I actually made it on Friday for a Kanban DT (Jan (and Bob) Loves To Craft) colleague who was getting married on Saturday. I made it as a DT card and was going to save it till Kanban Thursday but it fitted with a couple of card challenges so I thought I would show it today. It's absolutely ages since I entered any challenges.

Materials used were from the Romance kit bought from Create and Craft a couple of weeks ago
KB072
White stepper card made from A3 card
CRD1452 Bella Fiori – Light Pink
PCT9794 The Classic Textile Collection Sentiment toppers
Embossed Vellum

Silver Mirri card

Cream die cut flowers
Gem 3mm Bling

I would like to enter the card into the following challenges

Simply Create Too - Anything Goes

Make It Monday - Anything Goes

I hope you like my card, Jan did :) Thanks for looking. xx

Penny Black

The new challenge on the Daring Cardmaker's blog is a colour challenge and it's a lovely one. I decided on the colours for my image before I had actually seen the pallette, Mystic Meg eat your heart out!! (If only it worked with the lottery numbers)

My colours are slightly brighter but they're not too bad. I used last weeks Sketch Saturday sketch too but only because I thought it was the new one, DUR! I will make a card tomorrow with the new sketch as we have a few birthdays this month.

Promarkers
Heart paper - Pink Petticoat

The 'ribbon' was tied round some tea towels from Asda lol

See you tomorrow

Daring Cardmakers

Good afternoon everyone, I hope you have all had a lovely Christmas and that Santa was kind to you and your family. It feels like an eternity since I last updated my blog but I've been so busy that I have just avoided the internet full stop! I get easily distracted so better to leave alone lol Well actually, I have dabbled a little bit but only to buy a couple of bits of crafty sale stuff.......it would be a shame not to when the store owners have spent so much time uploading everything ;)
So now I can finally get the rest of my Christmas/ birthday/ wedding items uploaded and into the challenges I'm not too late for lol
The DCM challengers wanted to see 'Spots and Stripes' for their challenge, of which I have two cards

Daring Cardmaker

Lythan is hosting the Dare this week and her challenge is for "your card to include a foreign language"
Perfect challenge for me Lythan. I needed to make two thank you cards to send to Greece and have been putting it off for a couple of weeks but this challenge gave me the kick up the bum I needed :)

The tulips are a Hero Arts digi stamp and this is my first ever attempt at CAS one layer digi cards!! I made two of these as they were going to two different places.
The photo on this card was taken on our last morning and is going to the girls in the photo. The papers and burgundy card are from the 'left overs mountain' and the flowers are Prima.

Lythan also said "This takes me back to one of the very first Daring Cardmaker Dares (November 10 2006 to be precise) which was a similar challenge. So why not also see if you have any cards to show from 5 years ago to see if your style has changed?"

This is the first card I blogged all that time ago!!
How things have changed lol. This card was actually runner up in the Little Rascals section of the Quick Cards Made Easy cardmaker of the year. I don't think I've used that stamp since.
Take care.

Kathy's Waffle

Sketch File part 2!! Well just look at me....it's the second day of the month and I have created another project using the fabulous sketch for out challenge this month :)

I chose one of Anice's wonderful word books to work with for this month's challenge and instead of making the word book I chose to use the papers in the kit to make a card instead (see post below) I should have known that I wouldn't be able to resist the temptation for very long and yesterday and today I made a book from it lol

I'm really pleased with the way it's turned out and if you look hard enough you will see Kathy's Sketch on the cover.

I even made the envelope to put it in! I have just added a few die cuts, ribbon and lace, a couple of rub ons and the digi stamp on the front (which is from D Z Doodles ) and that's it, nothing else needed...well I don't think so anyway.

I am going to add this to the Daring Cardmakers challenge and their theme this week is "Spots & Stripes", and the Allsorts Challenge whose theme is "Monochrome" I might also try and sneak it into the Get Funky challenge as they have used Kathy's sketch this week too.

Thanks for looking and if you are anywhere which is suffering from adverse weather conditions as we are in the UK then I hope you can stay warm and safe.

Take care.

Daring Cardmakers

I haven't taken part in the Daring Carmaker's challenge for a while so thought I would give it a go. This week it is the turn of one of the new girls to set the dare and I will leave it to Nat to introduce it....."For this week's dare, I'm taking inspiration from the Card a Day book by Papercrafts. It's amazing just how many National xyz Days there are out there, some I never knew existed, but with August just around the corner, there are two very worthy celebrations ahead!

August 1st marks Girlfriend's day - a day to celebrate that very special friend in your life, and Sister's day just happens to fall on August 2nd.
So the choice is yours, you can make a lovely card to give to your best friend, or send something to your sister - or maybe your best friend is like a sister to you, she could even actually be your sister! ;o)
