Kanban Thursday

Well that's another week which as flown out of my life all too quickly! Time isn't slowing down as I asked at the beginning of the year so I think I will just have to learn to work faster lol Our internet went down at about 4 o'clock yesterday afternoon and it didn't come back on until about  11 last night so I got my Kanban DT cards ready for next week. 

There is great excitement at Kanban towers and with this excitement in mind I made a further Kanban card. On the 4th March we are launching our new challenge over on the Kanban blog. It will be a monthly challenge with a chance for all who enter to win some Kanban goodies :) All the details will be posted on the Kanban blog so please trundle over and take a look :)

Kathy's Waffle....

...Sketch File has a fabulous sketch on the blog at the moment which I think could be termed "simple but effective" and I love it. I sat down to make my first DT card and made 4 :)

Here is the sketch and two of my cards

 I've used white pearlescent card backed onto silver (which looks black in the photo), Doodlebug Page Frill and the image and sentiment from The Digi Stamp Boutique coloured with Promarkers.

Ingredients used on this card are: image - Pink Petticoat which as been coloured with Promarkers and mounted onto a Nellie Stellen scalloped rectangle die cut, The butterfly was cut from vellum using a Memory Box die and and then mounted onto a gold ribbon frill. I shall enter this into the Daring Cardmakers Challenge for this week which is

I would like you to incorporate some kind of frill on your card. It could be a frilly embellishment or background or maybe a stamp you have that would work. Anything that's fun and frilly!

What's on your Workdesk Wednesday?

#189 is now live on Julia's blog, The Stamping Ground, if you would like to take a look and find out more about this phenomenon that is taking over the world ;). I usually forget about it until it's too late in the day to post my picture but this week I thought I would give everyone a giggle and a tip on how to keep warm. I'll be good and show a photo of my desk first though, after all, this is what the post is for :)

 I've spent the last few days making Mother's Day and Valentine's Day cards and am in the process of cleaning up to start on my new wedding orders and samples now my orders have arrived. Things always seem to take longer in the first couple of weeks of January as the suppliers catch up after the Christmas period. Talking of Christmas, has anyone started their 2013 Christmas cards yet? 

And this is my little pet who lives under my desk. There is an air brick under my window but it's under the floor in my craft room and my poor legs freeze! As you will see we bought quite a thick mat to go on the floor on top of the carpet but it hasn't made any difference as it is the space under the desk which is cold. Hubby thought this might do the trick and bought it for me as a prezzie at Christmas. It is thermostatically controlled so heats my feet really well :) Now my knees are cold but my feet are lovely and warm so my next purchase will be a small fleece to go over my knees.  My youngest daughter says I look like old Granny Grunt with it, especially when I'm knitting lol,

Sketch Saturday

Sketch #36 I used this sketch to make hubby's Valentine card (please take note Mrs B, I am 2 weeks early, not actually making it on the day!!) lol

I used an 8" x 8" card blank this time and have never used them before. The sentiment is from Pink Petticoat, I love this one and think it is just perfect for a male card. The papers used are called Seasoned by SEI, the stripey paper is on one side and the creamy colour is on the reverse. I did try it with the patterned side up but it was too much so decided to take the 'simple' (no comment) approach! The red heart brads are from my stash.

What no red?

It is that time of the year again...so I thought we could all get busy on a Valentine card...it doesn't have to be for Valentine - just a romantic card...BUT no red (or pink.....that is too close to red!) ....so how easy is that!
I seem to have been making Valentine cards forever so need all the help I can get at the moment! That before I even think about one for DH ;) so I thought I would give the new challenge on CBC a go.

I found this piece of backing paper when I was looking for something else and decided to use it as a colour combination for my card. I'm not sure what make the papers are but I think they may have come from an old SA kit. I covered the chipboard heart with brown card and pale blue paper and tied them together with pale blue shimmer ribbon. The letters are Wassail by Basic Grey.

2 Sketches 4 You

This week it was Kazan's turn to upload the sketch on the 2 Sketches blog last Monday (I know, I'm late again!)

The stamp was a freebie from a magazine stamped with black Versamark and coloured with ProMarkers. I added Diamond Glaze to his nose and heart to give it a bit of dimension! (This card also fits the new DCM dare but as I made it yesterday I shall be honest and make a new one. Not hard as I have to make some more Valentine cards for one of my shops!) The ribbon isn't striped it is a pice of red tied together with a piece of black. They are both from my stash. The strips of paper are Basic Grey paisley but I don't know which collection it's from!

A friend has had a foot op and is housebound for a while so I thought I would make her a card to cheer her up and this is what I came up with.

The scalloped card is from Craftwork Cards the 'pot and pouffe' were hand cut and took blooming ages :) I cut two rectangles for the pouffe and pleated the piece for the frill, attached it with DS tape and ran a piece of velvet ribbon across the middle to hide the join. The paper is K & Co. The 'pot' was made by cutting a foot from scrap card and wrapping it with strips of copier paper. I added a few diamantes for a bit of bling and the sentiment was printed directly onto the card.

I had better get some more catching up done now :)

Friday Sketchers & Secret Crafter

......number 35 has been hosted by Murmur.This card also fits in with the Secret Crafter's challenge this week :) Onto this week's challenge which is the first set by our lovely MANDY. "HEARTS" As usual any project and techique as long as there are hearts somehwere on your project.
I now have another couple of Valentine cards towards replacing stock sold in one of my shops. The image, sentiment and spotty paper are all from Pink Petticoat the flourishes are from a set by Rhonna Farrer, the black card is Bazzill Bling (I love this stuff), flowers are Prima and the brads are from my stash.

I've just rembered that I only go round to doing last weeks Friday sketchers challenge yesterday too!! Being in hospital has sent me all out of sync LOL (I still haven't been out yet as my mouth is still very swollen :()

The image is a Papermania stamp, the papers are from my scrap box and the rub on is by MSE.
