Sketch File has an ongoing sketch challenge which is carrying on from December. The sketch as always is a good one  and can be used any way round just as long as we can still make it out on your project.

21st Birthday

Splodge Away

An apt title for this month's sketch from our lovely Kathy and when you see it you will know why :) Every month Kathy comes up with a wonderful sketch over on the Kathy's Waffle Sketch File blog, and if you want to have a mooch through them they can all still be found on the blog (they are down the right hand side of the page along with the names of who took part) going right back to the first ever one and I can honestly say that I have done them all :) They are a God's send when you need to fulfill an order and Mr Mojo goes walkies lol.
And this month's is

I shall add my first card on Tuesday as I forgot to upload it to the DT blog (sorry girls).

Waffle, waffle, waffle

Welcome to the update post for Kathy's Waffle Sketch File challenge. Kathy's 'draws' the most amazing sketches every month and as part of the design team we hope that you can find inspiration in our work. I know when my mojo has left me at over 100 mph I've gone in search of sketches and they really do help especially when there projects to inspire too.

Kathy has post two variations of the sketch this month and it never ceases to amaze me how different a project can look just by rotating the sketch slightly.

 
and onto my card

Paper and topper are from the Love & Marriage paper pad from Kanban, silver mirri card is from Joanna Sheen and the pearls and crystals are from my stock.

Right I'm off for now as I'm about to start sticking 240 2mm crystals onto embossed favour boxes!

Funky Flower Power

It's my turn to add my project to the Get Funky And Craft so I made a card using the beautiful Just For Jen download which is available from the Funky Hand web site. I've added a folded flower to the front of my card so I thought I would do a quick picture tutorial to go with it just in case anyone fancies making one :) The sketch used for the card is the new one for April from the Kathy's Waffle Sketch File challenge blog which I have used upside down....

I used a punch to punch out 16 x 2.5 cm squares in total as my flower is double layered. Fold all of the squares in half to form the triangles you see in the picture below

 The bottom row show the sequence in which the 'petals' should be folded. You also need to cut a small circle from either card or paper. As you will see, I cut mine by hand :)

 Snip the ends of the flower petals, this just makes them easier to stick together. Using a dab of wet glue, stick the first eight petals onto the circle then at this stage cut a larger part of the pointed end from the next 8 'petals and stick them over the first layer and leave to dry.

 

Pop a large gem or a brad into the centre of the flower and attach to your project.

A new sketch

As it's the beginning of the month, it's new sketch time at  Kathy's Waffle Sketch File and as always it is a "goodun". 

 or you might prefer to use it in it's rotated form

You may even turn it upside down or back to front if you so wish. As long as we can see the sketch in your work you are free to use it how you like. You are not limited to cards either, try using it as a scrapbook page for instance. We are really looking forward to see what you come up with. Add yourself to Mr Linky at the bottom of the post and we will drop by to admire your work.

I have an apology to make to my followers.......I have turned word verification back on because I have some moron who keeps sending me spam messages. I have been deleting them for the last couple of months as they were just amounting to one a week, now I am getting several every time I post and it's getting boring. Hopefully they will stop now and as soon as they do, word verification will go off again cos I find it a pain!!! :)

Kathy's Waffle Sketch File

As it's the first of September there is a wonderful new sketch on Kathy's Sketch File

It's a really versatile sketch to use. We have all made cards with it to start with but I'm sure there will be more projects from us throughout the month, I know I have something in mind which isn't a card *faint!* but meanwhile.....here is the card I made from the sketch :)

All of the papers, the sentiment and the image were free in this month's Making Cards magazine. The lace is from my stash and there are tiny gems on the flowers across the bottom paper but the camera doesn't appear to have picked them up and the card has been sent so I can't rephotograph it!

Both of my team mates, Kathy and Bev have designed gorgeous cards. Bev has used a really beautiful colour scheme and Kathy's flowers are just to die for (you can almost smell them :))

ICS day

Yes people, it's that day again anew sketch day on the Inspirational Card Sketches blog and we have another of Dawn's fantastic sketches to play with. Before I reveal my card I would just like to remind you of the DT Call we are having at the moment. You have until 24th July to get your entries in. Good luck, it's a great team to be on :)

I had a real problem trying to photograph this card. I used a new Docrafts embossing folder and the impression isn't as clear as the Cuttlebug ones. I reads "Let me shop for shoes and nobody gets hurt". Hopefully the picture will enlarge if you click on it and the image will be clearer.
It's my mum's birthday tomorrow and as soon as I saw the folder I knew I had to have it. My mum loves shoes and shoe shopping. Actually that is probably an understatement, Imelda Marcos is left in the dark at the side of my mum :) She has a clear out every so often and takes a load to the charity shops, I think the last time was when they moved earlier this year and she got rid of approximately a dozen pairs.........and still has loads in her wardrobe lol.
I've tried to get the image on close up and it looks a bit clearer.

I've used assorted dies, punches and ribbons and the paper is a new one by Papermania.

Rosie-Dee's DT call

Rosie and Deanne are looking for 6 designers to join them on their DT and have asked, that when you make your 'application card' that you use this week's challenge which is to use turquoise and brown. This is one of my favourite colour combinations (but then I have lots of favourite colour combinations LOL) Anyway, I decided to use the sketch from Friday Sketchers and have a go (not sure why cos I've applied and been turned down for a few recently and decided not to apply any more! :()

Sketch Saturday

Sketch #38 I used this sketch for a couple of other challenges and made two cards!


So this card also fits the Daring Cardmakers challenge Feeling Green-The dare is feeling green. I want to see lots of green on your cards in any shade you like. You could even do a double dare and make a green themed get well card. It's up to you. We can't wait to see what you come up with
and also the Secret Crafters challenge which this week is-"Spring has Sprung" Any Spring like creations or Spring colours

Papers used are K & Co and Luscious Lime by Blonde Moments, flowers are Papermania and Prima, the stamp (which I stamped twice and decoupaged the 'trumpet') is one from the Papermania Marie Curie set and everything else is from my stash.

Kim Fees......

.....first sketch is just so cute. I had it on my desk top for a few days meaning to use it in my Christmas card making then on Saturday evening I decided to tidy my desk top and put things into folders and promptly forgot about it! So I finally got round to it last night and here are Kim's sketch and my effort (better late than never!)

There is a slight problem with my card which I have only just noticed and that is that I forgot to turn up the bottm right hand corner.............sorry Kim! The papers used are Traditional Christmas by Anita's, ribbon was a freebie on the front of a mag as were the glittered chipboard letters, holly leaves were in my RAK parcel, mentioned several times below.

Papertake Weekly

Dawny's sketch #1

My card for this one isn't a Christmas card...........now don't faint! DH was dj ing at a wedding last weekend and this is the card I made him to take for the bride and groom.

I love this stamp, it is from Elzybells and I've had it for about three years now. It one of the things I reach for if I'm not sure what to put on a wedding card :) The paper is from a 6x6 pack by Dovecraft. It's the only one I've used as I don't like the rest and the quality isn't very good! For some reason the ribbon looks to be a different colour to the bow but they are the same. The self adhesive pearls are from my stash.
