Star Card, Star Album

I'm not exactly sure what these little books/albums are called as everyone seems to call them differently, I call them an album as I put photos in mine :)

It's my to host the Get Funky & Craft blog post for this week and as I had a commissioned album to make I decided I would use that as my project.

Cover 2 pieces of thick card with patterned paper and decorate the front. Make sure the paper is cut large enough to overlap on the inside by about an inch but don't decorate it as the first card will be stuck to it to form the first two pages.
Place tape onto the outer edges of all of 5" and 51/2" cards and to all four edges of the 6" cards..
The cards which will form the album pages
Some of the 6" cards will need tape on all four edges these form the 'star' and will be stuck onto the front and back covers
Decorate as you wish, I used off cuts of Funky Hand papers from a vast selection of papers, off cuts of lace and ribbon and bits which always seem to 'lurk' on my desk :)
and start adding a collection of your favourite photos,
 journalling,
 and verses.
These little albums make wonderful gifts
 and keepsakes
and are appreciated by all who receive them.
Happy crafting and thanks for dropping by :)

New Challenge

After all the weeks and weeks of misery and hype we are finally  ready to play :) The Crafting Muskateers are here with a fabulous new challenge blog with some brilliant challenges and some gorgeous prizes from some lovely (and very generous) sponsors! We also have a Facebook page for you to follow especially if you don't have a blog, you can add your work to the page.

The Crafting Muskateers is borne from the old Kanban Design Team. When Kanban folded we were all gutted as to be expected and then we decided that, as we were a strong team, we wanted to stay together especially as some of us had been on the team together for over a year. There have been a few changes to the team however. Craig and Toni left then so did Emma and Karen. Sarah Wright came back to join us and the newest DT member is Nicole Bretherick I'm sure there will be a lot of Kanban stuff to be seen on our challenge projects but it's not necessary to use it, it just means that we have got loads of stuff left over lol.

The first challenge has been sponsored by Creata International owned by the lovely Carley Duff and what a prize we have up for grabs!

The theme for the first challenge is
Anything Goes
So now the rest is up to you....give us your best work and upload it to either our FB page or use Mr Linky on the challenge blog and keep your fingers crossed :) Don't forget to pop over to the blog to see what the wonderful DT have made and we would love you to comment even if yiu don't want to take part.

I suppose I should show yoiu my card (I forgot about that bit!)
Materials used:

Funky Friday

Good morning everyone, happy Friday!

Oh dear, I started writing this post at 8.30 this morning and I got side tracked. The time is now 1.35 and I think it's time I finished it lol. There's not much happening apart from work today except that I'm going out at about 3.30. I will tell all, with pictures, tomorrow ;)

Ok, cards.....I've made a few cards for hubby this week as his stock for his night job was getting low. I made him some birthday cards earlier in the week and the following cards were made yesterday.

Right, that's it, I'm off. Back soon xx

Less Is More

The theme this week at the Less Is More challenge blog is a colour theme and they have chosen Lime Green and Black, not a colour combination that I would readily think of so it was a pleasant surprise when my card was finished and I like it lol The challenge this week is sponsored by Clearly Besotted stamps and boy, I can see why Stephanie chose the name of her blog. I came across them just before Christmas last year and am building up a nice little selection. You must go over for a visit but leave your purse behind because you will definitely spend some money :)

The set I've used is called Happy Everything and I've stamped it using a black Memento pad and just coloured the leaves using a Lime Green Promarker. I added pearls to the centre of the flowers and a piece of green and white gingham ribbon, job done.

Thanks for looking, I'm off to bed now. See you tomorrow. xx

The house of the rampant frogs...... (Alias Kanban Thursday)

You want to hear the blooming racket in our garden at the mo, they sound like very distant motor bikes! I can't remember frogs being as noisy with their mating calls....maybe it's cos they are so late in the season. It's not noticeable during the day because of all the other noises but when it's dark and still outside it's really quite loud. We are up to 11 clumps of spawn in our pond so far which I'm pleased about as I was worrying last week that we wouldn't get any this year because of the cold weather.

So now for my cards (I've still got enough Kanban stuff to make hundreds more cards for this section of my blog)

Sunday!!!

It's ok, I do know it's Tuesday but I'm up to Sunday with my posts so I'm getting there :) as I showed the card yesterday which was made for the couple who got married on Saturday I thought I'd show the stuff I made as part of the wedding package.

This photo isn't brilliant but I couldn't go and take another as one of the hotel banqueting staff took them for me and they don't stand out very well on the table. The name labels are attached to small organza bags which contain two heart shaped chocolate in ivory foils and they can then be used as place cards.
Thanks for dropping by :) xx

Wedding fever

The wedding season is in full swing now and it will probably stay this way until around Halloween. We then, generally get a couple of weeks to start planning C*******s cards and the weddings pick up again. Up until four or five years ago the weddings came to an abrupt halt at the end of October then started again in a vengeance at the end of January. This doesn't happen any more, I'm getting stationery orders all year round now which is great. I now supply one of local Holiday Inns with the favours and on the day stationery for their 'Whirlwind Wedding' package deal and today's wedding colours are plum and ivory. Hubs was djing at the wedding so I just added my name to the card I made for him to give to the happy couple.

Materials used:- C6 card blank, a piece of plum card printed fro a Pink Petticoat download, silver mirri card, black and white image from The Digistamp Boutique, Henry & Zoe Get Married.....so cute. The flower is from a diamante pack from Create & Craft and the ribbon and gems are from my stash.

Thanks for looking. xx

Funky Flower Power

It's my turn to add my project to the Get Funky And Craft so I made a card using the beautiful Just For Jen download which is available from the Funky Hand web site. I've added a folded flower to the front of my card so I thought I would do a quick picture tutorial to go with it just in case anyone fancies making one :) The sketch used for the card is the new one for April from the Kathy's Waffle Sketch File challenge blog which I have used upside down....

I used a punch to punch out 16 x 2.5 cm squares in total as my flower is double layered. Fold all of the squares in half to form the triangles you see in the picture below
The bottom row show the sequence in which the 'petals' should be folded. You also need to cut a small circle from either card or paper. As you will see, I cut mine by hand :)
Snip the ends of the flower petals, this just makes them easier to stick together. Using a dab of wet glue, stick the first eight petals onto the circle then at this stage cut a larger part of the pointed end from the next 8 'petals and stick them over the first layer and leave to dry.

Pop a large gem or a brad into the centre of the flower and attach to your project.

 The finished article :)

Thanks for dropping by, back soon xx

Wedding Wednesday

I have a couple more wedding bits and bobs that I haven't added here yet so I thought I would take this opportunity as it's Wedding Wednesday and I haven't done one for a while.

These were made for a wedding at the Holiday Inn Jct 36, A1M, Doncaster
Thanks for looking, see you tomorrow....or rather later today :) xx

Terrible Tuesday

Why was it so terrible I hear you ask....well, I spent almost all day...well, about 7 1/2 hours cooped up on a busy train :( They are really not meant for two people sat side by side on a long journey and what made it worse was the fact that we had travelled down First Class (spoilt or what :)). I couldn't stretch my legs or my back, well in fact, I couldn't get comfortable at all and to top it off, my Kindle ran out of charge about half an hour from home and I couldn't be bothered to go rooting through my bag to find the charger so I sat and stared at the  poor unloved gardens we went past. It's made me a little more optimistic about mine though....I'm not the only one who still has a scruffy garden as I can't get outside cos of the blooming weather.

I had a fabulous weekend in Cornwall thanks to my wonderful hubby and this was the view from our hotel room window!

I'd suffer a crappy train journey every day if I was rewarded with a view like that whenever I was at home. It's my dearest wish to live in Cornwall and I've wanted it since I fell in love with the county when my dad was stationed down there when I was 14 (just a few years ago!) We do try to get down as often as possible but every time I go, the leaving gets a little harder!

I will hopefully be on the right track by tomorrow as I think I'm still in CMT (Cornish Maybe Time lol, the clocks did go forward whilst we were there too)

Thanks for dropping by. xx
