Get Funky!

Well it's my turn again for the Get Funky! and it doesn't seem two minutes since I was here last :)
Allison chose the challenge Flying which to me is great because I love using butterflies on my cards so without further ado (ha ha).....

I used Rainbow Polka Dot download from Funky Hand and the flower image is from the Happy Happy Birthday cd which is available on the Funky Hand web site. Please join us for our little challenge, all we say is that you must use a Funky Hand product. If you don't have anything Anice makes a fabulous freebie paper (which can be found in the download section of the Funky Hand web site) every month so you have no excuses now :) Add your name to Mr Linky on the Get Funky! blog and we will call round and have a look what you have made for us.

Thanks for dropping by.

Oh my word!

Yes Peeps, it's here again and to make matters worse..............it's March tomorrow!! Who on earth pinched February or am I really such a lousy blogger that dates keep disappearing due to my lack of posts which means the dates are inconsistent LOL So yes, the week has disappeared again and it's time to spread a little nosiness around the world. If you're not sure what I am waffling about then please take a trip over to Julia's blog and see what she started with the 'What's on your workdesk Wednesay #143'

Just look how tidy my desk is this week :)

Just look at all that space waiting to be filled! Well now I will let you into a little secret lol

I will start my hopping in a couple of hours, I'm going to bed :)

Back later. TFL

Where have the days gone again? I can't believe it's the weekend again already, I think someone is pinching hours from me!! Just a quick post today as I'm in mid preparation for a wedding fayre on Sunday and another one next Sunday. I meant to add this yesterday but got completely sidetracked and forgot all about it so I have a couple of bits including a challenge card to show (don't faint lol).

As always, Anice has designed a fabby freebie for those of you who would like to take part but don't have any Funky Hand products. Please show her some respect by joining in with the challenge if you download the paper, please don't just grab the paper and run :)

There is also still plenty of time to play along with Kathy's latest sketch at Kathy's Waffle Sketch File
Kathy's sketches are fabulous and they can be used in any way you see fit as long as we can still see the original sketch.

WOYWW #142

As it is now Wednesday, and even though I took my photograph on Tuesday, I will be working on the same order all day this should count as my entry into the What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday #142 challenge for this week.

So what is the strange looking creature? I'm sure there will be a couple of people out there who don't know what they are so you will have to call back and visit me to see the finished result :)

If you would like to know more about what this challenge is about then please click on the link above and have a mooch round Julia's blog and see what we're up to.....after you've had a mooch round mine of course! lol

Righteo, it's bed time now so I will be back soon.

Night and thanks for visiting my blog.  xx

Ps. For those who are interested, the mini album is in the post below this one.

Granny's brag book

As I mentioned yesterday, we flew down to Somerset over the weekend and delivered the Brag Book for mum in law's birthday today. She decided she was going to have a look ate what was in her bag on Saturday so I took the opportunity to explain to her what a Brag Book was and what to put in it etc. I made her an 'All About Me' scrapbook a couple of years ago and she was saying that she is really enjoying filling that one in.

I find it quite difficult to do an album if I don't have any photos to put in it as I find that once you decide which photo is going on which page, you're half way there! I find it really easy to pick out a couple of colours from the photo as a starting point, I then add decoration and any captions as I'm going along. I didn't really know what colours to use for this album so I let my snippet folders decide :) I've worked with pink quite a bit lately so went with the colours I had most of and that was greens, yellows and oranges.

And here it is

I recognise a couple of My Mind's Eye and K & Co papers but all are unmarked as they came from my 'scrap box' :)
I've added templates for her to cut out the photos and added a few tags here and there....and Bob's your Auntie :)

I shall add the book to Di's Snippet Challenge (tomorrow morning cos I'm pooped!)

See you tomorrow for What's On Your Work desk

Bye for now :)

Football crazy!

Hi, I hope everyone has had a lovely weekend. We whizzed down to Somerset on Saturday, met up with Hubby's Mum, brother and sister in law and sister for a fabulous meal and came home yesterday. I've just thought, I've spent approximately 8 hours on a train and over an hour on a bus!!
My son in law celebrated his 40th birthday on Friday. He is Liverpool FC daft so of course I have to make his cards in red and white (I keep them all in a folder on my lap top so I remember what I've made him in previous years lol,)
So anyway, onto the cards.....the first one is off hubby and myself.

and this one is from my kids.
All papers are from Pink Petticoat, (but from my scrap box
Image is from Bugaboo stamps a long time ago (I think)
Coloured with Promarkers
Numbers are hand cut using large wooden letters as templates
Sentiment is from Craftwork Cards
Die cut beer glass is cut using a Quickutz die (now Lifestyle Crafts
Ribbon is from my box
I now have to make a bracelet and 18th birthday card for DD2 to give to her friend tomorrow, fill some favour boxes and bring out guest name tags for the favours.
Back tomorrow, take care.

Punches and Die Cuts

The new challenge on the Less Is More blog is (as it says in my title) to use 'Punches and/or Dies The availability of dies for use in cardmaking seems to have exploded recently, with many new ones appearing almost daily... do show us what you can do with them.' I've made two lots of invitations this week using die cuts and they both qualify for the Less Is More challenge. The first is a wedding invitation

Die used is a Sizzix Daisy #2.

The second
The dies used on this one is by Cuttlebug.

Right, I'm off now, I have a train to catch but hair to dry first :) Enjoy your weekend.

A new baby boy card

Good morning from a very grey, windy and miserable Scruff's Corner today. It's been like this since I got up an hour ago so I think it's time Mr Sunshine was woken up, we want blue skies now, not grey :)

I received an email on Thursday from a very good customer of mine with a list of cards to do over the next couple of weeks or so with the most urgent being a baby boy card for her sister as he was 'due in the next two weeks' I thought I would make a start on that one first. Good job really, he arrived yesterday! So here we have one frantically finished card lol

It's difficult to make out but baby's name is actually in the train....it says Dexter. I've always got a stash of knitted bootees and hats but always forget I've got them, until now. Everything was from my stash. But don't faint, I actually had to print off a sheet of the gingham card as I didn't have a large enough 'Snippet' (sorry Di :))

Sorry about the rubbish photos, they don't look so bad when you click and enlarge them. As I said earlier, we had grey skies and it doesn't warrant decent photos, however, the sun has made an appearance now that the card has gone:)

I would like to enter the card into the following challenges

Allsorts Challenge - week 3 of the anything goes challenges
Secret Crafter - Bingo week and I chose brads, flowers and bows (my flowers are on the beautiful 'Marianne' frame. I really like the flower and leaf detail on this one!)

Thanks for looking.

WOYWW #141

Wow, not only can I not believe that Wednesday here again (I'm sure someone is pinching a couple of days whilst I'm in bed!) but also how much WOYWW has grown since I started showing my desk about 6 months ago. I made a claim to myself last Wednesday that I would carry on all week and visit all the participating blogs. Well it didn't happen, I gave up last night and had visited well over 100 but not being able to sit at the lap top 24/7 (life got in the way, oh, and so did crafting). I'm still pleased with myself though. Will I manage it this week? Who knows, we are away at the weekend (while the kids are home alone, yay)

If you're not too sure what I'm waffling about, take a look at Julia's blog, The Stamping Ground where she explains all, however, you do need to be of a nosey disposition to take part lol

Righto, on to my desk this week

It's a bit tidier than it was on Saturday I'm making a 6" x 6" album at the moment and these are the snippets I'm using for it.

Have a wonderful day and don't work too hard :)

Flippin men!

Just a quick card today made for someone who has a rugby loving grandson in law!

I have had these sheets since they came out and keep forgetting I have them. I bought loads of them and still have quite a few left. I must find the Flippin Women sheets out too and get them made up otherwise they will sit in the drawer forever.

Materials used are
Flippin Men sheet by Jak Heath (I don't know where sells them any more as I got mine from a craft show)
off cuts of paper are by DCWV and ribbon and charms from my stock.

Another one for the Snippet challenge

Less is more

I'm really getting into this style of card making and enjoying it very much. I've always gone for an uncluttered look in my work (you wouldn't believe that if  you saw my craft studio lol) and this morning I decided to take part in the new challenge, which is to use stripes on your card, at the Less Is More blog. I've been really busy for the last couple of weeks so this makes a nice change. Having said that I'm back on a wedding tomorrow.

The stamp is from Pink Cat Studio and I've had the set for years and have used it loads :) I coloured the image with Prisma pencils on their own as I didn't want anything to soak through the card like Promarkers or Sansador would! I used this image as she is sat on a striped hat box and stripey thing are definitely lacking in my craft stuff. I don't know if the ribbon counts as another layer and whether it should be removed till I've blogged it but I'm sure someone will tell me and I can always remove the ribbon and photograph it again ;)

Thanks for looking and for all the lovely comments you leave. Also before I go, can anyone recommend any other challenges and I'm also looking for some decent sentiment rub ons if anyone knows of any. I used to buy MSE and Crate rub ons but the craft outlet I bought them from has closed down and I'm finding it very difficult to source them.

Right, off to make tea now.

I can sing a rainbow

I've just looked up from what I'm doing and this is what I can see from my studio window

Now I know it's only a rainbow but I thought rainbows always followed rain. The thing is....we haven't had any!!! We have had beautiful blue sky and sunshine but no rain. Please excuse the pile of dead wood on the front lawn. We had a new fence erected last Wednesday and secretly hoped that the fence man might have offered to get rid of it for us but he didn't. lol Hubby started getting rid of it a few weeks ago but broke his shredder. He returned it to the manufacturer and they've sent him a new one so he has no excuse now the snow has gone :)

So onto my cards.

The first one was commissioned by my window cleaner who has just been to collect it

The image is a freebie decoupage sheet from a craft magazine, I can't remember who the love heart stamps are by but I have a sneaky feeling it might be Heidi Swapp. The paper flowers are from the Range and I just coloured three of them with burgundy Promarkers. The black element on my cards comes in the form of the gems in the centre of the flowers....they are black diamond. The burgundy card is a double sided metal and is gorgeous. All of the pieces on this card are from my ''Snippet'' folders.  Backing paper is Mr & Mrs by Pebbles Inc and the ribbon etc is from my craft boxes.

I shall be entering my card into the following challenges

Before I go I would just like to say how sad I was when I heard yesterday that Whitney Houston had died. Such a waste of a life and such a waste of that fabulous voice. I know I shall remember her as the lovely girl who sang I have nothing in the Bodyguard rather than the very messy singer who lunged round 'performing' on the X Factor Strictly a couple of years ago.

Thanks for stopping by.

What's on my work desk Saturday

I wouldn't usually do this but having adopted a slightly less untidy method of working (well ok, some of it ended up on the floor behind my desk) when I was at the shop, it doesn't seem to have taken me long to revert to my old method of working. I think I must have had an attack of the MDS (messy desk syndrome)  lol

Those of you with a nervous disposition please look away now :)

I did clean up last night in order to start the next job...in fact I even polished my desk (my pride and joy and my best ebay buy ever!) and vacuumed the floor.

I'm sorry if my post has upset any of you and I hope you are all able to sleep tonight lol

Ruby Wedding Anniversary Album

I managed to get the album finished on Friday evening ready for my friend to collect it yesterday afternoon. She was delighted with it.
If you look carefully at my pages you might see the sketch from Kathy's Waffle Sketch File a couple of times but I'm afraid I bottled out of the double LO using the 'stretched' sketch...I could get it to work properly!

and finally, the box
I have used an assortment of paper snippets, a few new sheets, some freebies and an assortment of embellishments and am not sure where most of it came from (apart from in my craft room :)
Thanks for looking, I hope you like it.
