Less Is More

Why are simple one layer or no layer cards so scary to make? I find it far easier to chuck papers at my cards and hide bits with ribbon or flowers or something :)) having said that I do like the more simple cards rather than cluttered and I really, really stuggle with distressing and things like shabby chic although I do like to see that sort of thing, I just can't do it!

I'm pleased with this card after the initial shock of stamping and colouring straight onto my card blank lol I even got the chalks out to colour it as I didn't want my Promarkers seeping through to the back of the card.

The image stamp is by Elzybells (no longer trading which is such a shame)
sentiment stamp - Papermania
chalks
tiny gems on the flowers - Anita's

I'm entering this card into the challenges
Less Is More where the subject ONE LAYER CARD, with the subject of BIRDS and

Daring Cardmakers where Zuzana would like
MIRACULOUS SOCIAL NETWORKS
dare for you.
I would like to see Facebook, Twitter, Skype, You Tube ... on your cards.
You can use funny sentiments, colour scheme, fonts, style, layout or PC image.

This is the start of my first week catching up from distasterous week last week. My chest is still very sore and my ribs hurt from coughing but I have quite a few things to do. I have another couple of cards to make today as they need to be in the post asap, a fascinator to start and a couple coming this afternoon to discuss their wedding stationery....another lovely day.
Thanks for looking.

Stamp Something

Well peeps, I am so glad to see the back of April, it has been a rather 'wearing' month for us, what with

  • some kind soul running up the back end of our card (resulting in us having to go out today and buy a new one!),
  • my dad having his hip op and ending up quite poorly
  • my mum and dad moving house and the new one needing decorating from top to bottom and
  • my lap top going belly up on me

So May (and the rest of the year are going to be nice to us lol

This is the first Stamp Something challenge I've done in ages but I needed a card for DH to take to work with him so I decided to use the sketch.
Materials: image-Anita's, papers-Doodlebug and Stampin Up, ribbon-Ribbon Oasis, flowers-Prima and the gems are from my stash.

I've spent most of my evening searching the web for fonts which I've lost with my lap top breaking. I must have spent a fortune buying font!! Of course I can't remember everything I had but a good few of them have now been discontinued :(

Oh well!
Thanks for looking, enjoy the rest of the weekend whatever you might be up to.

Flowers are Prima,
Brad is Dovecraft
Clip is Papermania

I also used Kazan's DT sketch for another card

Paper is Three Bugs and Sassafras
Not sure where the ribbon is from as it was an off cut
Gems are Anita's

A quick update.....

....while I straighten up my back and neck, I feel as though I've been bent over my table for ever :)) I have yet more Christmas cards to show and have done some other stuff but can't show yet ;)

I found these rub ons in the bottom of my Christmas drawer. I bought them about three years ago so it shows how long it's been since I sorted that drawer :)
These rub ons were in ther too! Paper is from the DCWV Christmas pad, ribbon is from my stash and the sentiments were done on the lap top.
Paper is from the Anita's Classic Christmas pad and the tree image is one of Debbi Moore's rubber stamps. Sentiment was again done on the computer.

Backing paper was done on the computer, burgundy circles were Cuttlebugged before being punched out, snowman is Cuttlebug and the snowflakes are Bosscut.
Yet another trusty rub on. I was surprised that they still worked after all this time especially as the drawer they are kept in is against the radiator. Paper again from DCWV, sentiment and ribbon as before.
I bought this unmounted stamp a couple of years ago but without going through my invoices, I can't remember where from! I must admit also, it was completely uninked before yesterday *blush*. Paper was free in a mag, I think it was Papercraft Essentials and the candy canes in the corner are rub ons, everything else as before.
This image isn't showing very well as I should have photographed it on an angle rather than scan it. However, it says Merry and Bright and is by Hero Arts. It's one of the stamps mum bought at the craft show last week ;) I've stamped the background was stamped in silver using Rhonna Farrer flourish stamps. The Jingle Bells candy is from Craftwork Cards at the same show.
These two little cuties were cut using a Bosscut die that I bought a few years ago and he/she is just gorgeous :) The papers are from the Anita's Blue Christmas pad and everything else is as before.
Right off to do some more. Take care and thanks for looking :)

Kathy's Dare!

As you may have gathered from my title it's Kathy's turn to set the dare over on the Daring Cardmakers blog and here is what she is looking for.

Okay, for my dare we're heading to the playground for a game of Hide & Seek. I'd like you to make a card which has a hidden component of some sort. The hidden part could be a tag, a concealed photo, message or something along those lines, maybe a pull-out or pop-up.Anything goes as long as there's something extra for the recipient to find on your card that's not immediately visible when they open the envelope.I knew straight away what I wanted to achieve but didn't know what image to use on the card front! After stamping and embossing quite a few images this is what I came up with, I hope you like it.

I'm not sure what happened with the scan of the first image but the photo anchor is pink! The main stamp on the front of the card is from the Doodlebug Wedding set, the pink brad is also by Doodlebug, white organza ribbon is from Ribbon Oasis, lips stamp is Anita's and the photo anchor is Papermania.

If you stop by and look at my work please let me know. You don't have to comment if you don't want to......just say Hi! I am receiving hits from all over the world now and would really love to 'meet' some of the people who stop by. I will always leave a message by return.

Thanks for dropping by :)
