Less Is More

Why are simple one layer or no layer cards so scary to make? I find it far easier to chuck papers at my cards and hide bits with ribbon or flowers or something :)) having said that I do like the more simple cards rather than cluttered and I really, really stuggle with distressing and things like shabby chic although I do like to see that sort of thing, I just can't do it!

I'm pleased with this card after the initial shock of stamping and colouring straight onto my card blank lol I even got the chalks out to colour it as I didn't want my Promarkers seeping through to the back of the card.

The image stamp is by Elzybells (no longer trading which is such a shame)
sentiment stamp - Papermania
chalks
tiny gems on the flowers - Anita's

I'm entering this card into the challenges
Less Is More where the subject ONE LAYER CARD, with the subject of BIRDS and

Daring Cardmakers where Zuzana would like
MIRACULOUS SOCIAL NETWORKS
dare for you.
I would like to see Facebook, Twitter, Skype, You Tube ... on your cards.
You can use funny sentiments, colour scheme, fonts, style, layout or PC image.

This is the start of my first week catching up from distasterous week last week. My chest is still very sore and my ribs hurt from coughing but I have quite a few things to do. I have another couple of cards to make today as they need to be in the post asap, a fascinator to start and a couple coming this afternoon to discuss their wedding stationery....another lovely day.
Thanks for looking.

Card selection

Finally yesterday I made a card for one of my couples who get married whilst we are on our hols and used a Friday Sketchers sketch from a couple of weeks ago.

Image - Elzybells Papers - Pink Petticoat and magazine freebie
Flowers - Prima

Ribbon - Ribbon Oasis

Brad - Doodlebug

I made a load of cards over the weekend for DH to give to his wedding/party hosts as he had four over the weekend, another four while we're away and three the weekend we get back. I actually think he might have a couple of spares too!

They are all very simple as I don't get anything for making them and I buy the card etc so I usually use the fab Pink Petticoat downloads, bits of paper and card from my box of left overs and any glitter, ribbon etc which is laid about on my desk. It took me an hour and a half to make 17 cards, not bad eh?!

Thanks for dropping by. I have another box to do this morning then some birthday cards which need to be posted before I go away so will probably be back later with some more challenge cards.

Bfn.

Mojo Monday

The third box I decorated yesterday was using last week's sketch from Mojo Monday I often use these sketches but am usually too late to show them (as in this case :)) The simplistic look of the sketches is right up my street.Image - Elzybells (coloured with ProMarkers)
Paper - Pink Petticoat
Butterfly - Quickutz Rev die (brand spanking new :))
Everything else from stash

Wedding, Christening,.....

an album, DT work and two cards sums up what I've done this week which hasn't left me any time for challenges except one which I did last night. I have all the challenges saved in a folder on my desk top so I will do them, just not sure when :)

I had to make a wedding card for DH to take to work this evening and used Kathy's sketch but ~'ve just realised that I didn't use lace, just a punched border! I will just have to make another one now :) I have one to do for a wedding next Saturday. Please excuse the wonky scan, I did it at one oclock this morning and my eyes weren't functioning properly LOL
Materials used are:
papers by K & Co and Papermania
Stamp by Elzybells
All I've coloured this time are the hat band, ribbon on the flowers and the grooms cravat. I used a very dark green fine marker so the card was inkeeping with the colours of the wedding (I know cos I made the seating plan ;))
I shall be back later with more of this weeks work. Wherever you are, enjoy your day, if you have sunshine (as we have) all the better :)

Kathy's sketch 2008 #4

Have you checked out Kathy's Sketch File? She is coming up with some great sketches........I've used a few over the last few months. So decided to use this one for another Valentine card!
The papers are Sassafras before they dropped the 'lass'. The stamp is from Elzybells and is coloured with ProMarkers. The heart buckle was cut using a Bosscut die and the rub on is Papermania.

One more

The couple of the Liverpool FC seating plan fame got married today and DH is djing at their wedding. I've just had a text message from them saying 'thank you, everyone loves the seating plan and table names!' I really love messages like that and was very pleased that I got to meet them last Thursday. The whole order was conducted by phone and email but I was up at the hotel on business on Thursday (and lunch ;)) and they called to see the wedding coordinator. They are a really lovely couple. Here is the card I made them today

I love this Elzybells stamp. The image was stamped in black onto white linen card using black Versafine ink. I coloured the image with Prismacolours and Sansador but just stuck to the red and white theme of the wedding rather than colour the hair etc. The card was finished with a Prima flower and red brad and a piece of red satin ribbon.

And there we have it, the last one before bed :)

I'm being taken out for lunch again tomorrow, that's the third time in three weeks..........I could get used to this.

Take care and thanks for looking.
