Kathy's Sketch File

There are just a few days left for you to join us on Kathy's Waffle Sketch File before the new sketch comes up for September. Kathy has published some brilliant sketches over the last couple of years and they are all still on the Sketch File blog for you to look at when Mr Mojo goes walkabout!
Take a look at the sketch and we would love it if you had a go with it.

Don't forget to let us know if you have a play then we can come and have a look at your work :)

Rosie D's challenge prize

Well peeps, this is the last chance to enter the last challenge on the Rosie D's blog :( and as it's the end of the month on Tuesday, I will pick a winner then and announce it on Wednesday morning.

So what is on offer I hear you ask! Wellllllllll

2 6x6" paper pads from the English Paper Company
2 12x2 border strips from the English Paper Company
1 set of unmounted stamps from One Four Zero
1 pk Hearts from Crafty Bitz
8 lengths of assorted ribbon
assorted buttons

I hope that's ok for you. Good luck!

Aaaaaargh

I am having major issues at the moment trying to comment on peoples blogs and edit my own.....I simply can't do it. I click on the comment links or on the little pencil icon on my blog and nothing happens. I've tried opening them in new windows and in new tabs and zilch! I don't know whether the issue is with Blogger, Firefox or my lap top but I can't seem to do anything except post here and on the challenge blogs I belong to! If anyone has any ideas please then I'm all ears but probably won't be able to do anything as the technical part of the relationship is at work this evening lol

Handmade in Zakynthos

You may have notice if you have read my blog before, that I can't just sit and do nothing. On the rare occasion I watch tv I have to do something else like knit, sew, read the paper etc, otherwise I feel that I'm just wasting my time!! So every time we go away I have to take something to do, I might not always use what I've taken but at least it's there if I want it. I always take books too but only managed 3 and 1/2 this holiday as well as the jewellery. So here goes, most of it was made on my sun lounger by the pool......my new craft studio :))

Here is most of what I made (there were a couple of extra bits, some earrings and an ankle bracelet which I sold before I had the chance to photograph them)

This one isn't the same as the one above as it has the scallops on it whereas the one above is just three straight strands.
Please forgive the awful background but I took the photo on my lilo before the were given away!

So there you have it, straight from the Zakynthian branch of Scruff's Corner lol
Thanks for looking.

Good news and bad....

The good news is that I'm back from the beautiful Greek island of Zakynthos and rested (apart from the earthquake on Sunday morning :)) and raring to go (or will be after I've finished wading through the 1469 emails which came while I was away!), the order book is maintaining a happy level and I have a (relatively) tidy craft room lol I managed to get a few bits of jewellery made while I was away and sold a couple of pieces too. I had a perfect work environment.......I made and sold jewellery from my sun lounger at the side of the pool (in between reading the Carole Matthews books I took with me) :) The photos are still on the camera but I will upload them over the next couple of days. The other good news is that all the posts I scheduled are now published on my blog.......I did worry about them and thought I might come home and have not DT work up for the last fortnight lol

The bad news is that the Rosie D's challenge blog is no more!!! My challenge is on at the moment and once that finishes next Sunday, we are no more. Rosie has a new job and very little time and what time she does have she will need to spend with her family (obviously). It has been great working with Rosie, (Dee in the beginning) and the rest of the girls and I really hope we stay in touch. Thanks to all of you who joined us in our challenges and made us such a success. There is still time to join in with my challenge and as soon as I've sorted the prize for this month I will add it to the blog.

Take care. x

Sketch #80

on the ICS blog this week is sponsored again by Paper Romance

You will notice this time that I turned the sketch slightly as it suited my image better. I have followed the sketch properly but have just noticed from my photograph that, because I have used sheer ribbon on  a heavily patterned paper, apart from the bow, you can't actually see the ribbon!!!!

Rosie Dee's

Challenge # 78

By the time you read this we will be thinking of coming home from the lovely island of Zakynthos (Zante) where we have been for the last two weeks. Thank heavens for scheduling posts (and thanks Rosie for showing me how to do it)

It's my turn to host the second challenge for August and this time I decided that as it is my wonderful hubby's birthday next month we would have "One for the boys" but for the big boys in your life not the small ones as our men often get forgotten in our card making.

I fell in love with this image on Mo Mannings blog and bought it just after DH's birthday last year. It is totally appropriate in my opinion, why? you ask. Well, he is called The Engineer, subtitled Matthew on his train........hubby's name is Matthew and he works for a rail freight company!!! How's that for coincidence lol

I coloured the image with Promarkers and mounted and layered it onto assorted papers from my scrap drawer, the sentiment was printed on the lap top, card Candy is from Craftwork Cards and the assorted ribbons are from my stash.

All I've got to do now is remember where it is nearer his birthday......this is the reason I usually make it the night before his birthday (yeah right!) :)

Thanks again for playing along with our brilliant challenges and don't forget to hop over and have a look at the lovely work by the DT.

Challenge #77

It's my turn this month to set the challenges on Rosie D's blog and for my first one I have chosen "More than one fold" however if possible I would like something a bit more challenging than an easel card. I love making them as much as everyone but decided for this challenge I would make a card with six folds!!! so I made a tri shutter card.

I will be offering a couple of prizes this month but will do it at the end the end of the month from a combination of both challenges.

I chose to make a card with six folds.......ok, it sounds great but it isn't, I chose to make a tri shutter card :)

I hope you can make the time to join us for this challenge. Take a look at the inspirational work by my fab team mates and don't forget to leave us a comment so we can come and take a look at your work.

Good luck!

Sir Stampalot

The Sir Stampalot challenge this week want "Bring on the Bling,

What better opportunity to get out those embellies, glitters and gems which we all love so much and go right OTT if you like and dazzle us with your works of art. But if glitz is outside your comfort zone, then just a few gems, as long as we can be like jackdaws and see something sparkly that will be fine."

This was one of the most difficult cards I've ever had to make. It is for a girl who I palled about with when I first started working at school. She had started more or less the same time as me and none of the other TAs would speak to us (they thought we were after their jobs! lol) She has just found out she has breast cancer and she is only 32...life is just so bloody cruel sometimes!!! Chin up mate *hug*

Papers are by Pink Petticoat, die cut glitter card butterfly , Papermania rub ons, ric rac and bling from stash.
Thanks. xx

Penny Black

at Allsorts challenge #2 are looking for Glitter and Glitz this month and say "We all love our embellies so what better opportunity to pull out all those gems and glitters and get creating."

I have used Kathy's August sketch again  for this challenge
The image was stamped a couple of years ago by a lovely blogging bud...thanks Jo, yes, I am still using the images :) I've coloured the image with Promarkers and used lots of gems and Glamour Dust. Everything on this card was from my stash and/or left overs box!

Allsorts

Challenge #63 on the Allsorts blog sees Fleur choosing the challenge ...."This week it's me Fleur to pick & I'd like to see Dressing up! It could be fancy dress, a dress for a special event or even a classy pair of shoes - It's entirely up to you, as long as we can see a dressing up theme we'll be happy!"

Gosh, how I haven't burst up to now I really don't know! So here is the fab sketch for August

another oldie

I was looking for something yesterday when I came across the stamp set I used for the following card. The new challenge blog Oldie But A Goodie reminded me that, although I have had the stamp for about six years, this was probably about the third time I had used it. Of course, when I bought it it was one of those "had to have" purchases ;)

Image - Daisy tag from Graphicus
Sepia Archival ink pad
Card, ribbon and gems from my stash.

I stamped the image twice and cut the flowers from one of the images before mounting it onto 3d pads and sticking it to the card.

Thanks for looking

ICS sketch #77

I love working with Dawn's sketches and also love seeing the diversity of the team's work or projects. To say we all work to the same sketch the projects are vastly different. This week we are sponsored again by Paper Romance

It's funny because I don't often use DL cards now but when I do, I think I prefer them this way round. I used loads of them back in the dark ages when I first began card making but that was before I fell in love with square cards lol

We would love you to join in with us but please leave us your address so that we can call by for a visit :)

DT call

There is a new blog starting next month and they are having a DT call at the moment. The challenge is slightly different to others around as "If you like most of us have a stash of old stamp gathering dust, then this is the place to come. There will be a new challenge every other Tuesday and you can combine it with as many other challenges as you like, as long as the main image is stamped and at least 6 months old. You can make anything you like Card, ATC, L/O etc as long as it fits in with the challenge"

The blog is called Oldie But A Goodie which might be right up my street as I haven't bought many stamps this year!!

 Check it out :)

Birthday card

This card has been commissioned by one of hubby's collegues for her mum in law and my brief was.......something flowery!! lol but it had to be 8" x 8". My mum bought the House Mouse decoupage sheets ages ago from Create and Craft (I think) and decided to share them with me as there were so many (she bought two packs) Decoupage isn't something I do very often, I used to make loads especially when the Morehead sheets cam out but I don't think I've made a decoupage card for a couple of years now. Now I know why....what possesses the artists to put so many tiny bits on the sheets? It took ages to cut out and I chucked the really tiny bits in the bin lol I still got three good layers on it though and am pleased with the end result.

The lilac floral paper was a freebie from a magazine but I don't know which one as it was just in a drawer on it's own.

Daring Cardmakers

I haven't taken part in the Daring Carmaker's challenge for a while so thought I would give it a go. This week it is the turn of one of the new girls to set the dare and I will leave it to Nat to introduce it....."For this week's dare, I'm taking inspiration from the Card a Day book by Papercrafts. It's amazing just how many National xyz Days there are out there, some I never knew existed, but with August just around the corner, there are two very worthy celebrations ahead!

August 1st marks Girlfriend's day - a day to celebrate that very special friend in your life, and Sister's day just happens to fall on August 2nd.
So the choice is yours, you can make a lovely card to give to your best friend, or send something to your sister - or maybe your best friend is like a sister to you, she could even actually be your sister! ;o)
