Art Deco ladies

Did you see the Create and Craft shows last weekend where the kit was made of Art Deco Ladies and associated backing papers, card etc? Well, the kit was absolutely fantastic and the girls on the Kanban/Aspire Crafts design team were lucky enough to be given a kit each to make samples with.....and we all fell in love with it :) There are some of the sheets in the kit available on the Aspire Crafts web site.

These are the samples I made for the show

I altered a white paper carrier bag

Leonie and Keith both liked my exploding box and gave my name out on the programme :))

There will be a lot more cards coming from this kit in the not too distant future as it's a stunning kit and I have loads left.

Thanks for dropping by xx

Exploding box

I have had a run on these lately, three in the last couple of weeks and it must be about 12 months since I made the last one! I quite enjoy making the boxes as no two are the same as they are tailored to suit each individual. However, this one was ordered late on Tuesday afternoon for a birthday yesterday so it was a case of drop everything and get on with it. The lady came to collect it at about 8.45 yesterday morning and was so happy with it 'she could cry' lol

The papers are an assortment from the Papercraft Factory cds from Funky Hand. They are really. lovely and you don't have to just use the papers from one cd, they can be mixed and matched across all four cds.
Well that's all for now....it will soon be breakfast time!
Thanks for looking.

Friday

I have been hoping all week to do a bit of weeding today as the weather forcast had said it was going to be 'nice!' Obviously their interpretation of the word is different to mine. The grass is wet as it has rained on and off all day and it is really grey. So Mr Weatherman...which part of the word nice am I not understanding?

The golden wedding invitations as mentioned yesterday were delivered and am posting a catch up as I've done a couple of bigger jobs inbetween some of the smaller ones.

They look really pretty with just the embossed flowers and gold gems.

I also made 20 thank you cards for DD to send out to people for her 18th birthday gifts....now getting her to actually write them is another story. We might end up sending them out with the Christmas cards!!!
DH needed a couple of cards for work this weekend too. As I've been replacing things in my craft room I have been tidying boxes and have come across lots of bits which (I think) I must have bought when I first started making cards over 7 years ago! I've used some bits for DH as they make cheap cards.
Image is from The Digistamp Boutique and the papers are left over from another project.
This image was stamped and embossed for me by my first ever crafting buddy, sadly we are no longer in contact so I don't know who it's by, but thanks anyway Pauline.
This card is made from bits and bobs I found in an old biscuit tin :)

The exploding box was made at the end of last week but I didn't have time to add it here. I haven't made one for a long time and then had two ordered at the same time.

Gosh, I'm shattered just adding all this lol

Now to round off the week!

Exploding box

Another commission, this time for an exploding box for a yound lady who will be 21 on Tuesday and guess what her favourite colour is......yep, purple! Her mum also said that if I could put a penguin in the middle she would be very grateful.

Papers are from the Patti Picklicious, the first cd by the ever lovely Kirsty Wiseman. Thanks Kirsty for the permission to use the papers, I had to check to make sure it was ok :) Other bits and pieces, charms, flowers etc were from the ever growing stash as usual.

Exploding box

These boxes have proved to be really popular with the teachers and support staff at a local primary school and whenever they have a special occasion they ring me to make one! This one is for one of the teachers, her Grandmother is going to be 90 next month.

The only specification I had for this box was that Grandma's favourite colours are pink and lilac and she likes roses..........I do enjoy making them when they are straight forward lol

Because I have used butterflies and flowers I'm going to enter it into the May challenge over on the Sir Stampalot blog where the challenge is to use "Butterflies and Blossom".

Thanks for looking :)

Rosie Dee's reveal

Hi, I can't believe it's reveal time already. I was a very bad blogger last week as time just got the better of me. I've got quite a bit of wedding work in at the mo which has to take precedence over everything else. This weekend saw the wedding of a friend of mine and I was decorating the venue for the happy couple...it was a case of out early on Saturday, we stayed over on Saturday evening, got back yesterday and straight into work as I had a couple coming to collect the last of their order and it wasn't quite finished. I just dumped my boxes and now have them all to sort and put away :)

So onto the challenge... the subject is Think Spring
I had a commissioned exploding box to make for an 80th birthday so decided to use the challenge to make it as the remit was daffodils, blue and not fussy.

I hope you like it, my customer certainly did :)
You still have time to join in with the challenge and if you do, don't forget to tell us so we can take a peek at your work.

Mojo Monday

Another quick card which was part of an order, this it's an engagement card. My friend Jo came over on Monday and gave me a couple of sheets of SU paper and it is absolutely stunning! I think I may just have to invest in that when I next order ;) Very occasionally I cut into a sheet of paper when I first got it and this was one of those occasions, it just screamed at me to be used. For information purposes only.....the other sheet and the rest of this one will not now see the light of day for a while lol

Materials: SU paper- Bride (117991), silver mirror card, Sizzix champagne flutes, MS punch, flat backed crystals, white organza ribbon

The exploding box is part of the same order.

Materials: Papers - Making Memories and My Mind's Eye, ribbons - Ribbon Oasis, everything else from stash

Thanks for looking.

Commissioned work

The two boxes below were commissioned by the same customer for TAs at her son's school. There were three layers to each box but as the other two layers were personalised with photos and verses I'm unable to show them.
I was given the colours favoured by the two recipients and as long as I included the photos and verses supplied, I was given a free reign. The customer was very pleased with them. She had also ordered the three 'flower' cards shon last week and she also bought two others before she left :)

The star card/book was my first attempt at this style of card. I'd wanted to do one for a while but kept chickening out of making it LOL. The lady who commissioned it is a very good friend and customer and it was for her husband's 60th. Her brief was......'you know what he likes so it's up to you what you do' I love those sort of commissions :)

This box was the one seen by the lady who ordered the first two on this post at a group both ladies attend. I can go for months and not make any exploding boxes then all of a sudden (like recently) I can make four in four weeks!

The Next Level

Issue 5 is a sketch and I am rather late with it. The cards should have been added to the site before 9 pm today and I forgot. I used the sketch to make two pages in a commissioned album I'm working on, took the photos and put the pages into the album and have just remembered them!

Flowers are from Craftwork Cards and everything else is from my stash. The large circles were cut by hand using a tea plate and scalloped scissors :)

A couple of other bits I've made recently too

A lanyard to hold a memory stick made using pale pink and clear crystals and an 'S' charm.

Exploding box

Another one off the list! I might be tempted do make a list more often as I love seeing it shrink LOL

Have you noticed that there is absolutely no housework on it :) I have a house like a tip, not one but two piles of ironing and three full wash baskets!! MiL is arriving tomorrow for the weekend and we have 22 for a bbq on Sunday for my mum's birthday for which I need to bake and prepare food all day on Saturday and set up the marquee etc on Sunday morning.

So onto the box
This is the brief I got from my customer (it's the fourth one I've done for the lady)
Hello Jackie
I mentioned to you that I would like another of your boxes for a wedding. The details are:
Kay and Graham getting married on Saturday 9 August 2008. She will be wearing a traditional dress and having orchids. They have a chocolate labrador dog, like motor bikes and cars and have a caravan and have a rabbit! I hope this is useful?

I left out the cars as I made one for the brides sister last month and used cars on that one. The orchid in the middle of the box was (loosely) modelled on the orchid pic above. Mine looks decidedly ropey at the side of it :)

The box has now gone from the list so next is the jewellery and box for my mum and the phone charm.
another breast cancer awareness phone charm
start my samples for Debbi Moore Started
Necklace and keepsake box for mum's birthday

The following two are the start of next week's list.

100 Christmas cards, order confirmed
Seating plan, 9 table names and 80 place cards

Enjoy your evening. TFL
