Papertake Weekly

Papertake Weekly have the theme of "Anything Goes, with the option of  a new theme, so it could be a new baby, a new beginning or just something new from your stash" this week and I had a couple of birthday cards to make so I decided to join in with the challenge. Oh the joy of having internet during the day (I didn't haven't it at the shop so had to cram everything into an evening)
The Art Deco lady, by Kanban, is my new 'option'. I bought it before Christmas but it stayed in it's bag until Wednesday. I think she is quite elegant so I just kept the theme to black and white with the addition of silver mirror card (which looks black on the photo!)

I used an assortment of dies and punches to create this card

Martha Stewart border punch
Quickutz shoe and handbag dies
Cuttlebug flowers

The sentiments were on the sheet.

I am also entering the card into Di's first Snippet Challenge as the mirror card was from the 'snippet' mountain.
Incy Wincy Designs - anything goes
Secret Crafter - anything goes
Pile It On - anything goes
Pollycraft Monday - Punches

I have a real mish mash of a day today as I need to make some DT cards and I have a photo album and a fascinator ordered so I want to at least start them.

Back soon, thanks for looking.

It's the weekend!

If anyone finds the last few days of my week could you please return them? They passed me by in a blur of work and appointments! I even have a bride and groom coming this morning as I couldn't fit them in during the week.

I have managed some challenges though as I needed some Father's Day cards plus a couple of others.

I did the last two sketch challenges on ICS together LOL

Image is from DewDrop Craftz
Paper is from an old Father's Day kit by Summer Driggs
Everything else is from my stash.

This next card is also for the Colour Create challenge this week which is to choose ANY THREE of the following colours; Strawberry, Raspberry, Kiwi, Tangerine and Blackberry. And now for the optional extra...... we're staying with the fruit theme for this one, so we would like you to incorporate fruits somewhere into your design, be it the papers, the image, the embellishments or the sentiment.
I've used strawberry, tangering and kiwi although my green is a bit darker than a kiwi fruit, it isn't as dark as it looks here!

Papers are Bloom and Grow from My Mind's Eye and Bazzill Bling

Books and apple are Cuttlebug die cuts
Brads from stash

Kathy's sketch

I reversed the sketch as I wanted to use one of my Cuttlebug border embossing folders......I have hardly used these as I keep forgetting I've got them! The flowers were picked up at a craft show last year and I just curled the petals using my bone folder. The text circle is a freebie from Carolyn on the Crafts by Carolyn web site, thanks Carolyn! Pink organza ribbon is from Ribbon Oasis and the diamantes are from my stash.

Secret Crafter

Saturday Challenge #6. This is another great sketch from Wendy and the girls, check out the blog and see for yourselves :)
This is my (quick) take on the card. The papers are off cuts from the English Paper Company, the circle has been Cuttlebugged (is nothing safe ;)) and the Christmas tree is glittered chipboard and was free with Papercraft Essentials this month.
Very quick and easy............thanks Wendy :)

DCM

I'm cookin' with gas again now and getting on really well with Christmas stuff (thanks to all the challenges :))
The DCM Dare this week is a sponsored dare so all the more reason to take part. (I didn't do last weeks as we don't 'do' Hallween!) So.........This week its Jozza's turn for the Dare and as its Fireworks week here in the UK she has gone all sparkly - so the brief was lots of bling!!
I also 'borrowed' the sketch from Kathy's blog to do the dare.

This card was made just using off cuts of vellum from one of my DT kits from Debbi Moore. The scalloped circle was embossed with a Cuttlebug folder and inked with a pale blue chalk ink pad, the snowman is Cuttlebug too and the diamantes are from my stash.

Thanks Kathy :))

Better late than never!

I finally managed to do the Di Hickman's Card Sketch October #3 and was really pleased with this card. I think I might be making quite a few cards in this style :)

The paper is again from the Anita's Red Christmas 6x6 pad, snowman and cracker were in my Christmas RAK, the large snowflake is Quickutz and the small trees and snowflakes are Cuttlebug.

Thanks for looking.

And then there were 10

......more cards made with left overs on my desk. The pile doesn't seem to have dwindled much but I managed 10 more cards today. I will only be sharing nine this evening as I forgot to scan one so will do it tomorrow. I've run out of the large (Dunelm) blooms, but only on my desk, I have loads in boxes! :)
Just look what the DCM challenge on Friday has started! The floral paper is Basic Grey, they yellow card is Bazzill Bling and the greeting is a minute peel off!
Paper is K & Co, car is Quickutz and greeting is a rub on by Papermania.

I think the paper on this one is another by Pink Petticoat but not 100% sure *blush* (I will check tomorrow), flowers are Prima, brads are Doodlebug with added bling and ribbon.

The daisy was hand embossed and coloured with glimmer chalk. The backing paper is from a mini scrapbook kit that I bought when I first started making cards, the rub on is Papermania again and the cord was wrapped around the neck of a bottle of bath crystals until last Thursday!! lol
Wording is computer generated, ribbon is from a wash bag gift set, charm is from stash and greeting is another small peel off.
Another hand embossed card. Blooms are from Dunelm and Prima.

More Pink Petticoat images and paper. The quote is from a pink kit from Craftwork Cards which DH bought me the Christmas before last!

The word 'sister' was cut on the Robo to put on DD1's birthday card at the beginning of March but I temporarily lost ;) a couple of the letters. Flowers are Cuttlebug, as is the tag.

Flowers again are from Dunelm and the chick image is from a downloadable kit by Kate Hadfield. I will post the link to the kit tomorrow as well.

Another Dunelm fabric flower layered with one by Bazzill, one from Brianna by Prima and a flower brad which I bought when I first started card making. The greeting is another Papermania rub on.
Well, that's the lot for this evening. I shall be back tomorrow as promised. Thanks for looking.

It's February already

How on earth did that happen? I'm sure someone has put the calendar on fast forward!!!

I actually managed a challenge from Just Bex yesterday morning. I had to make some baby cards for the shop and when I went to check out the forum, two of them fitted Nicky's brief!! Scalloped edges are SO very in, darling, so to cash in on the trend, for this challenge you need to make a card featuring a scalloped edge somewhere. You could use appropriate scissors, or scalloped punch, or any kind of die cutter, but if you haven't got any of those, you could always draw some scallops and cut round them (so no excuse for not entering.) I've just noticed that six of my cards fit the challenge :)
All my scallops were cut with punches, embossing was done using various Cuttlebug embossing folders, papers and card were from my offcuts box (so I've not idea what most of them are!) die cuts are a mix of Cuttlebug, Quickutz and Sizzix, flowers are Prima and the other bits were all from my stash :)
No more crafting till tomorrow evening (apart from finishing off a set of wedding stationery). I've just bought another Pink Petticoat cd which is urging me to use it so tomorrow I will play!
I have a couple of appointments today (but they are coming to me so I don't have to go out). I do need to go and get dressed though LOL
Tomorrow I have a wedding fayre at a new (to me) venue so if anyone is thinking of getting married and fancies an amble round a lovely hotel then we are at Hellaby Hall near Rotherham.
TTFN and thanks for looking :)

Yippeeee

So what have I been up to since Saturday? Well, I had my first appointment at 10.00 am and sold a tiara. I then went onto my mum and dad's to deliver the OoS and seating plan and they are over the moon with them! We then went on to the next appointment at 7.00 pm and they weren't in!! We drove around the block and went back and they still weren't in so we came home. It so annoys me when people do this. She has my phone details so could have rung to cancel. I know anything can happen at any time but it doesn't make it any better when it happens! Moan over :)

I spent yesterday in the garden and we are now weed free and all the daffy bulbs have been planted.
I had a leaving card to make for a collegue of DH and a very good customer of mine! They work for a railway company and this is what I came up with

I just love the little Cuttlebug train and carriage and thought it was appropriate for this card!

My next card is the DCM challenge from Friday. I got a lovely bag of lace from a charity shop a couple of weeks ago so thought I could use some on a card. There was loads in the bag and it all looks brand new and cost me the grand total of..................50p!!! So, this is their brief OK, here's this weeks dare:Let's go Charity shoppingor Op shopping (as we call it in Australia)
I DARE you to visit your local Charity Shop & make someone else's
TRASH your STASH!
.........and make a GORGEOUS card from what you find. You'll be amazed at the special little treasures you'll find if you only take the time to look with CREATIVE EYES

and this is my take on it

I can't remember where I got the foil printed card from as I found it in one of my drawers! The lilac backing card is DCWV, the 'baby' is a Sizzlit die, the lace is from my cheapo bag and the little hands are from Crafts by Carolyn

I've also started the favours for mum and dad's do today. I've done the 3 children's favours and 10 adult so far. Will show piccies when they are done. I have also made a wedding invitation sample to be posted off tomorrow.

I must clean up in the morning too, I have a couple coming to see me about a stationery order!

Take care. x

Friday's dare

I just love these dares which I can incorporate into an order. Today it was Lythan's turn to set the dare and here is what she had to say

here is a nice broad theme to get your creative juices flowing.
Embossing.Dry embossing with a light box or with a die cutting machine.Using embossing powders or triple embossing.Using pre-embossed papers.Embossing with found items.Just have fun playing! And as I can't resist being a little (em)bossy - why not see if you can get more than one emboss technique on your card?
This is a scan of the card so the detail can be seen clearly. Below is the photo of the whole card.

I have used the Stylized Flowers embossing plate by Cuttlebug. These are brilliant. The detail is perfect and they give a really deep emboss. The large flower stamp is by Anita's and has been stamped with a Versamark pad and embossed with silver powder. They have been mounted onto the card using paper flowers and brads. The actual card is a very pale lilac almost grey stardream card and has a lovely shimmer to it. The backing papers are from one of the new Mat Stacks by K & Co.

This is the first time I have ever made an accordion card and I am really pleased with it. :)

Maze Book 2

After making a Maze Book last week for one of the Just Bex challenges, I decided to make another for a very special friend who celebrates her birthday on Saturday. I really enjoy putting the books together, they are so simple but very effective. I'm into brown at the moment so the card base on this one is brown Bazzil too!

Front cover
Pages 1 & 2

Pages 3 & 4

Pages 5 & 6 Pages 7 & 8

Back cover and tags

I would love to know how other people stop their pages from 'flopping' out when the book is open. I have tried gluing or taping some of the pages together but this just seems to make the book incredibly tight when open!
I have used various papers from old SA Kits, spotty Prima Flowers from Craft Obsessions, Quickutz dies, ribbons from my lovely stash from RIbbon Oasis and my lovely new Cuttlebug embossing folders.
Thanks to my gorgeous kitty cats, housework beckons. One of them has just knocked a plant over in the conservatory so I have to go and clean up the soil. I wish I could get them to use a dustpan and brush, it would make my life easier. LOL
