For Sale

If anyone would like to buy the new Docraft stamp for the Marie Curie cancer appeal then I have one for sale.

I bought the stamp for myself and used it to make this card. I stamped some of the images and sent them to my mum as I knew she would like it, so I got her one too. She rang me this evening to tell me that she has been and bought one after seeing the images I sent her! The stamp cost £4.99 (£2.50 of which has gone to Marie Curie) and postage will be approximately £1.09. I thought I would ask here as I know there are some people who read this who don't have access to a Docrafts stockist. I can be emailed through the link on the right hand side of my blog. I am happy to take Paypal and you don't need an account to use the service.

I hope this might be of use to someone!

Meet Hamish ...........

.........he is just adorable. I bought him and a Maggie stamp before Christmas and fell totally in love so ordered a couple more. They arrived this morning so more excuses to play! I made this card for my dad's birthday on Boxing Day (from one of Di Hickman's sketches)

Paper is K & Co and text rub ons are Doodlebug.

I mentioned the other day how DH messed (!) up my room just to put two small shelves up. Well here is the evidence

I suppose he did me a favour really, because as well as having new shelves to fill, it made me tidy my table, baskets and any other junk which I'd piled over there!
Here are the after pics.....
I still need to do all the drawers but that will come with time :) I can't be bothered today, I'm going to have a go at a scrapbook page instead!

Challenges galore........

.........well three actually!
The first one is the DCM dare for this week. The first dare of 2008 is set by me (Lynne). For this weeks dare, I would like our cards to celebrate'New'So not only New Year, but maybe New Home, New Baby, New Job or maybe a card for someone who is starting a new chapter in their life.
Here is my cardThe paper is Girlie Girl by Fancy Pants, the ribbon is from The Range (I think it might be Dovecraft but not sure-it was a pack of 4 small rolls for 99p), image is a Doodlebug stamp and greeting is a Studio G stamp-bothe are stamped using Pearlescent Orchid by Brilliance, striped paper is Making Memories Kate I think and safety pin and charm were from stash.
My second challenge card is from the latest sketch by Di Hickman

Here's my card

Flowers are all Prima, chipboard 'u' is Scenic Route covered with yellow card, the word 'thank' is cut from the same card using the Sizzlit alphabet Wingo Zingo and mounted onto a nameplate sticker by Doodlebug and finished with yellow brads.

My third card was a challenge to myself-to try to do something with a beautiful flower stamp from CHF I love rubber stamps as I can't draw to save my life! I can't colour properly either and lovely looking at the way other people colour their images.I coloured the image with the cheapo pearly paints from the Works, mounted it on some pieces of paper/card from my bit box and added the diamantes (who doesn't like diamonds on their birthday?) LOL

Well that's it for now. I'm going to start a scrap page as I printed a few photos this morning and they are now dry.

Better pic

I managed to photograph the card just using the normal lighting in my room and it's a lot better than the scan! My son even came down and showed me how to 'watermark' my image. He wrote down the instructions for me but it is all gibberish............I will probably muck up next time I come to do it as I couldn't follow Di's instructions. I've got a new laptop so am using Vista (which I have yet to get used to) so I can't find anything at the mo!

The yellow still looks peach though so I don't know what's wrong with it. The daffodil is painted using cheap pearly paints from the Works and has a real shine to it.

Wednesdays efforts

What a grotty day! It has snowed almost all day but very lightly. We did have a light covering but it has disappeared now, but it has been really grey all day. My poor little daffodil is still standing but it hasn't opened yet (I can't say I blame it!)
I managed a couple of cards yesterday. Hubby is dj'ing at a golden wedding anniversary tonight so this card is for him to give to the couple.

Papers are K & Co, flower is gold mirri card cut with a Cuttlebug die and finished with a diamante. This is the only time I ever use C6 cards as I find them too small and because of the size I find that you can't charge accordingly.

The next card is also for DH as he is doing a wedding on Saturday

This card is actually white but it looks a pale lilac to me. The mat for the images it lilac pearlescent. The images are just stamped on a piece of white card which has been inked with silver ink. I finished it off with a couple of diamante hearts and a piece of white 3mm ribbon from Ribbon Oasis

My third card was the result of playing with the new Marie Curie daffodil stamp from Docrafts.

I don't know what's happened to this one, the colours are awful. I scanned the card as I usually do but this one is horrid!! The stamp has actually been stamped onto a very pale ivory card and mounted onto a very vivid yellow card, the base card is white linen and the Paper Frill from Doodlebug is actually yellow! Strange............ I shall try photographing it in a bit and see if that makes any difference. I'm also going to see if I can follow DI Hickman's tutorial on how to make a copyright brush for your cards etc.

I will be back in while, hopefully with a better picture! Thanks for looking.

I wandered lonely...........

..............well not quite a host of daffodils, but look what I found yesterday!

I went out to the bin yesterday and found this solitary daffodil. I have never known a daff to flower in December!

These are the last three new year cards I made yesterday.

DH is working at a local hotel tonight and I'm going with him. I'm not very keen on New Years Eve for some reason (probably because I did bar work for about 20 years!) but this isn't too bad as we have a room booked. As soon as he has done Auld Lang Syne, I'm off to bed with my book :) When we get back tomorrow I have my craft room to sort. DH put me some shelves up yesterday and has destroyed my room! I will take photos befor I start :) When I've done I have to start on some new wedding invitations for a magazine advert.

I hope everyone has a happy and safe new year.

Happy New Year

I totally ran out of time in the run up to Christmas. I got so many orders in from my last jewellery party at the end of November that I didn't have time to make my own cards. I had a few left in my box so I used them for a family and friends and just managed to squeeze in a couple of really special ones. I wanted to send cards to all the couples who had given their support in 2007 but didn't get them made so I decided to send new year cards instead. I managed to get a few made this morning before anyone got up, so they can go in the post tomorrow. I don't usually make new year cards unless they are ordered so I enjoyed making these............all on a theme but different and all from the same piece of 12 x 12 paper from Junkitz!

Flowers are all Prima and ribbons, brads etc are all from my stash. All the 2008s were cut on the Craft Robo and I've used both the positive and negative cuts. I shall now get these addressed and start on the next lot!

DH is having a DIY day today. He bought me a David Cassidy calendar for Christmas (which contains pictures of some of the posters I had on my bedroom wall as a teenager! First thing DD2 asked when she saw it was "Who's that?") DH has just put the calendar up for me but it's meant moving a picture so now he is going to remount the picture and put me some shelves up!

Just in case I don't make it back over the next couple of days I would like to wish you all a Happy New Year and a big thank you to all those who have left comments on my blog. I shall look forward to seeing all the fab work on everyone else's blog over the coming months.

Dare day!

I hope you all had a good Chistmas and Santa was kind to you.

After having a few days off I've decided that today is a 'me' day! We went to the Range this morning and I bought the new Marie Curie stamp from Docrafts. £2.50 from the sale of each stamp goes to the Marie Curie appeal and I have bought the stamps and punches for the last three years. This is the new one I also bought a couple of paper pads, a pack of 12 x 12 white card, Two packs of O Rings for my Bind it All (not very thrilling really!) and two kilner jars so that I can start sorting my ribbons by colour! I got the Organized and Inspired Scrapbooker for Christmas and it is fab. I don't know if it will make a difference in my life but I hope it will :)So onto my dare cards. I've combined the Daring Cardmakers Challenge with Di Hickman's template. The DCM brief is Hi All. Today we have decided to revisit your most favourite dares of 2007. The four top dares, decided by the number of comments you made on them are (in no particular order): 'buttons', 'ribbons', ...'and cut' and 'frames'. We would like you to use this week as many of those dares as you like to make your card in any theme and any style and this is Di's TemplateThis is what I came up with
I turned the card on it's side for the template and for the DCM, I hope I haven't cheated too much. ;) I've used buttons from stash, vertical and printed (paper) ribbon is the reverse side of the 2008 paper (which is Celebration by Junkitz). The numbers were cut on the Robo (my first ever welded 'word') and the zeros 'frame' the 'ribbon'!

O Christmas Tree

I've taken photos of my living room today so I can do a scrapbook page about Christmas. As I've only just got into scrapping it's not something I've done before. I'm quite pleased with the results (apart from the top. It's a new tree and I've had to fold the top over as it bends when the star is on)

The tree is gold and ivory with white lights. We also have a few bits on there which have been given to the kids over the years. We like it anyway :)

The fire place.

Merry Christmas

........has set his advent challenge over on the JB forum to and here is what he said.

After really enjoying seeing what you've made yesterday, today I would like to see the best handmade cards you've received from friends and family members this christmas.

I got this one this morning from my friend/Twinnie............Nick aka Pickle or Purplepenguin, thanks mate, that polar bear is just so damn cute I think I need him LOL

My next card is my Round Robin card from CBC forum made by Annmarie

The next one is from another great forum friend..........Andrea

and finally from another good friend...........Ang

DCM Friday

Christmas is an expensive time of year (although every day of the year can be potentially expensive to us Crafters ! ;) Anyway, we thought it would be a good idea to run a dare that was 'inexpensive'..This week, we the DCM team, would like you to design a card using a magazine 'freebie' . Either a craft magazine freebie, or indeed any other magazine freebie, papers, embellishments, tools, etc. anything really, as long as it came from a magazine.

Here is my card

The green paper on my card was free with the December issue of Cardmaking and Papercraft. The tree was from a pink kit from Craftwork Cards which DH bought me for Christmas last year! Everything else was from my stash.

I'm now going to wrap DH's prezzies while he's at work....................another job off my list.

Bye for now. xx

Almost there

These are two of the 'special' cards I made this year. The first one was a commision-a special card for a special sister. It was for the same two people for whom I made the 'Inside and Out' card to it had to be on a par with that one and this is what I came up with

I liked the card above so I made the one below for a special friend from me!

The verse reads
May all your Christmas wishes
and many dreams come true………
for no-one else
deserves them more than a
special friend like you
Merry Christmas,
With Love
I don't know where it came from but I think it's lovely. I use it quite a bit and just change some of the words (birthday instead of Christmas)
All papers used were old K & Co Christmas, the word Noel is from one of the fab kits from Scrummy Stash Cafe These were left 'au naturel' and just covered with Anita's 3D glaze and doused in iridescent glitter. All flowers are Prima mounted onto the Ellison Holly die cuts.
Thanks for dropping by!

Christmas prezzies!

Here are a few prezzies I've made for family members and friends
